Cullen and the Kindred Spirit #MM #Romance #Excerpts #SirenBookstrand #Preorder

It's been a long time coming, but the saga of the Symbiotic Mates continues with Book 7, Cullen and Kindred Spirit.

In my world two species -- the lycans and the kindred -- are natural enemies who suddenly find themselves dependent on each other for their survival. Hot alpha predators are now connected forever by sharing blood.

It's hard to believe that two years have passed since the first book in the series was released. A lot happened in that time and for a while the series was on hold. I’m happy to say that the newly revised and expanded books have found a new home at Siren-Bookstrand and Cullen and the Kindred Spirit is now available for preorder.

Symbiotic Mates 7: Cullen and the Kindred Spirit

AVAILABLE: Saturday, September 7th
This title is offered at a 10% New Release discount. Offer ends midnight CST, September 14th.

[Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, vampires, shape-shifters, HEA]

What happens when natural enemies suddenly become blood mates?

Vampire Cullen Blackhawk gets caught helping a wolf-shifter rescue his human mates from the Colony. Now he's forced to accompany the fugitives to Arcadia and spy on the pack. Cullen figures the humans will be his blood donors, but the shifter leaves Arcadia and takes Cullen's only food source with him. Then the unthinkable happens. Cullen finds himself attracted to an omega wolf.

Mika Hill's role in the pack has always been that of submissive slut, but Cullen treats him like an equal and Mika shows his gratitude by offering Cullen blood. A starving Cullen can't help himself, and now he's forced to confront his escalating feelings for an omega who's mated to someone else. Mika falls hard for Cullen, but he knows there's no future for a wolf and a vampire. Or is there? Mika will do anything to keep Cullen—even if it means forcing a blood-mating.

Story Excerpt

Cullen Blackhawk looked down at the man in his arms—so hot, so horny, so willing to share everything…even his blood. Especially his blood. But it wasn’t enough. Not for Cullen. What more did he want anyway? The vampire couldn’t put his finger on the problem. He only knew something was missing. Something elusive that kept him from being completely satisfied with his human blood donor, his situation, his life…

Cullen felt empty inside, and not just because he hadn’t fed in two days. Maybe this feeling would go away when he sated his bloodlust. But he doubted it. Baring his fangs, he lowered his head. The man showed no fear. He smiled up at Cullen, his eyes hungry for the ecstasy of a vampire’s bite.

Any vampire.

Just for once, Cullen wished his donor would want him. But the humans only cared about the pleasure they received, not who they got it from. Cullen knew he was no better than they were. Did he care who his donors were? No. Any human would serve his purpose. They were walking blood banks, nothing more.

Still, Cullen couldn’t help thinking, maybe this time it will be different. His enhanced senses zeroed in on the pulsing carotid at the man’s throat, and he sank his fangs deep. Blood, rich and sweet, flowed down his throat, and he sucked greedily. Euphoria followed. But where was the intimacy? Surely, a moment like this deserved a more meaningful connection.

Sighing, Cullen disengaged. He’d only taken what he needed to sustain himself. A few licks at the twin puncture wounds sealed them. Already recovering from his orgasm, the donor’s eyes fluttered shut. By the time Cullen covered him with a light blanket, the man’s soft snores echoed from the walls. A short nap and the human would be fully recovered from his climax and the loss of blood. He probably wouldn’t even remember who he’d been with.

Cullen slipped out of the feeding room, shutting the door behind him. Never did he feel more alone.

Cullen’s footsteps didn’t make a sound as he walked down the narrow hallway, and opened the heavy wooden door that led into the main chamber of the Parrish. The old church was literally the heart of the Colony. Square in the center of town, it functioned as a bar and a meeting place, as well as providing housing for the human blood donors—groupies who chose to live in the Colony and feed the vampires. Perishables, as the master called them.
Tonight, every stool at the long bar was occupied and not an inch of space remained on the dance floor, but even in this crowd, Cullen felt alone.

Bloody hell!

It was damn depressing, and the electronic dance music gave him a headache. He longed for the quiet of his own little house. Making his way to the exit, the metallic scent of blood filled Cullen’s nose. A decadent scene of exhibitionism surrounded him. On either side, those who didn’t require the privacy of the feeding rooms sprawled sacrilegiously on the few remaining church pews. Engrossed in various stages of fucking or feeding, they paid Cullen no mind. It was a world unlike anything most humans would ever experience.

If they’re lucky.

Tired of using and being used, Cullen wondered if he was the only person in the world who wanted more than just physical pleasure. All his encounters were the same—two self-centered people seeking self-satisfaction. Sex and blood provided temporary relief for superficial desires. Surely there had to be more to it than consuming and coming. Cullen felt a much deeper need that had never been met.

Certainly not by family, his parents had been killed by vampire hunters and he’d been raised, more or less, by various members of the community. For the most part, the kindred were solitary creatures. Few vampires married, unless it was for political reasons. And while they might form master-thrall relationships with their human blood donors, it was mainly done for convenience. Real emotion rarely entered into their pairings. Cullen had been around for at least a hundred years. In that time, the world had changed, but not the kindred. Their emotionless existence remained the same.

Outside the stone walls of the Parrish, all was quiet except for the rustling of trees and the sounds of small animals brave enough to enter the city of vampire-hawks. Ah, much better. Cullen started walking, leaving the soaring masonry spire of the Parrish behind him. A chill iced his spine. He had the distinct feeling of being watched, but he put it down to paranoia, and shrugged it off. Taking a few more steps, Cullen froze when he heard a screeching overhead. Whirling like a dervish, he looked toward the sky. Lightening forked, illuminating the religious figures and gargoyles that peered down at him from the flying buttresses. Interspersed among them were real hawks—kindred that had shifted and were on night patrol. Watchful and predatory. They must be a frightening sight to the humans. But that was part of the attraction. The donors liked the feeling of living on the edge.

On the highest ledge Cullen spotted a flurry of movement. One of the hawks disengaged from the others and shrieked as it swooped toward the earth. The creature shifted in midair, and landed on two feet.

“Quite an entrance, Ethan.”

The vampire waved an arm and bowed. “I try.”

Happy Reading!

Eyes of Love by Angelina Rose #BookTour #Interview #GF_EyesLove

I'm interviewing Angelina Rose today as part of her book tour.  And she's sharing an excerpt from The Eyes of Love.

Enjoy! And don't forget to enter the Rafflecopter Giveaway below. One commenter will receive a $50 Amazon or BN.com gift card.  Follow the tour to better your chances of winning. Hi Angelina. Welcome to the Wild Side. If we were to come to your house for a meal, what would you give us to eat?

Hi, thanks for having me. I like small dinner parties where everyone invited is required to get dressed up. I love spending time with my guests so I have these dinners catered: the chef comes to my home and prepares and cooks all the food.

This is the menu from my last dinner party and I would use it again, it was absolutely one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten…
Soup: Chilled and Charred Corn Bisque with Poached Pear and Goat Cheese Cream
First Course: Summer Truffle Risotto with Rosemary and White Balsamic Reduction
Second Course: Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb with Spanish Olive Oil-Poached Parsnips and Caramelized Cippolini Onions
Third Course: Seared Halibut with Roasted Garlic Turnip Purée, Micro Greens, and Pomegranate Beurre Blanc
Dessert: Pavlova with Soft Frozen Egg Yolk Center, Goat Cheese, and Blackberry Cream Reduction

Now I’m hungry…

Are you a romantic?

I can be romantic but I think it takes care and creativity to be truly romantic especially when you have been in a relationship for a long time. I would say I am realistic most of the time, with romantic overtones.

Do you listen to music when you're writing?

Usually, I don’t. I often have the radio on but when I’m in the flow, I’m oblivious to time and anything going on around me.

Do you ever read your stories out loud?

Yes, I do! I read out aloud even when I am the only audience? Sometimes I read sections out aloud … usually it’s because I’m not sure of how the story is sounding. I find this helps me solve that issue.

Have I read out aloud to an audience? Yes. I read parts of my current story “The Eyes of Love” to a local group of Inner Wheel which is an International organisation closely linked to Rotary. It was founded to unite wives and daughters of Rotarians. It scared me, but as I got going, the more comfortable I became. It was a bit like acting I decided … I had my lines and I had an audience…

What are your future ambitions?

My romantic suspense ”Pelican Girl“ is due out towards the end of next month. It was an incredible story to research and write, and I enjoyed trying to craft a romantic story with added suspense. In the not too distant future, I will be releasing my first standalone novel; I would say in early 2014.

Except 2 of The Eyes of Love

A hush fell over the room for a moment as Stephanie appeared with Jazz trailing behind her. She was wearing a skin tight black dress with stiletto heels which was typical Stephanie fashion. She wanted nothing more than to be the center of attention like she always had been.

Without missing a beat, Stephanie walked straight over to Colin. Sally was shocked.

"Hello, Colin..." she purred as she ignored Sally completely. "You look sexy tonight, as always." She smiled seductively as Colin looked away. "Who's your friend?"

"None of your business, Steph. Leave me alone."

"Oohhh.... Did I touch a nerve, sweetie?" she asked as she reached out to touch his chest.

"Don't touch me, Stephanie. I'm warning you. Why don't you go back to Jazz?"
"Oh. Jazz. Boring..." she sang. "We're not together anymore, just so you know..." she whispered in a husky voice. Colin held onto Sally's hand for dear life. She had to do something.

"Stephanie, don't you remember me?" she asked grinning from ear to ear as she slid into Colin's side. He put his arm around her and stared down in shock at what she was about to say.

"I don't know you," Stephanie said looking her up and down.

"Wow. Age is really doing a number on your brain," Sally said.

"Who are you?" Stephanie snapped. Jazz stood a few feet back obviously trying to hear the conversation.

"I'm your worst nightmare," Sally growled as she came almost nose to nose with Stephanie, her attorney public speaking skills getting ready to display themselves. She pulled the name tag from her purse without breaking eye contact and held it up. "You see, I'm the nerd that you and your cronies bullied through high school."

AUTHOR INFORMATION:

Angelina Rose has wanted to write ever since she could hold a pencil. The first daughter of immigrant parents, Angelina had her head buried in books, lost in a world of heroes, heroines and exotic places.

It was a shocking experience that jump-started Angelina's author career.
"I awoke in the ICU... I had been unconscious for several days," Angelina says.
In 2010, Angelina had a long stint in hospital following her involvement in a motor vehicle accident: the longest time off work (as a Registered Nurse), she'd ever had in her life!

It was then she took up pen and paper and started to write again, just as she had done when she was a child. She wrote four short fiction stories for young adults, entered them in several competitions, and managed to win three first prizes!

After happily dipping her toes into writing those short fiction stories for young adults, Angelina has now authored four books in a new "Mill Creek Crossing Romance" series... contemporary romance intended for adults.

The "Starting Over Series" is another contemporary romance series she wrote about a subject she knows well... nurses and their love life. At a recent reunion of her graduating class, she could not help but notice how the same girls would group together and laugh, chat, and even shed some tears over their lives since graduating. Many of the girls had divorced... so Angelina thought "what if a group of the nurses came up with a plan to meet in two years and have a new love story to share?" Then the first story in the series was born.

There is always a story running around in her head. A man with thick dark hair, gray-blue eyes, with an engaging smile and a quick wit... or a girl crying over a broken relationship. She finds herself talking to these characters during her day: when she's doing dishes, or bathing babies at the hospital. These characters crop up on days at the beach or on walks through the neighborhood. This is how the stories start to grow.

Angelina's mother was an author, so Angelina grew up with a love of words and stories. If she wasn't writing a short story about something that took her fancy, her head was buried in books... reading, reading, reading, as her brother constantly told her...

When she's not spending time with her goodlooking man, or quality time with her laptop, she's working at the hospital, hanging out with her family and friends, or walking her two dogs around the neighborhood. Angelina spends as much time as she can traveling, then coming home and including some of those adventures in her stories.

Angelina really loves to hear from her readers and she invites you to connect with her on Facebook as she interacts daily with her readers there!

THE CADENCE OF GYPSIES
By
Barbara Casey

BLURB:

Three high-spirited 17 year olds, with intelligent quotients in the genius range, accompany their teacher and mentor, Carolina Lovel, to Frascati, Italy, a few weeks before they are to graduate from Wood Rose Orphanage and Academy for Young Women. Carolina's purpose in planning the trip is to remove her gifted, creative students from the Wood Rose campus located in Raleigh, North Carolina, so they can't cause any more problems ("expressions of creativity") for the headmaster, faculty, and other students – which they do with regularity. Carolina also wants to visit the Villa Mondragone where the Voynich Manuscript, the most mysterious document in the world, was first discovered and search how it is related to a paper written in the same script she received on her 18th birthday when she was told that she was adopted – a search that will take them into the mystical world of gypsy tradition and magic, more exciting and dangerous than any of them could have imagined.

THE CADENCE OF GYPSIES – Excerpt 2

It was always the older ones who felt the need to challenge the ancient gypsy traditions.  The children who weren't yet adults, but who felt they were old enough to thwart authority and desire independence.

"I want lots of gold," said Milosh who had recently turned 17 years old--a man in his opinion.  The oldest in the group, soon he would join the adults. "Teach me the spell to make me wealthy."

"You must be careful for what you wish, Milosh."  As always, the choovihni was patient with her young pupils.  "But I shall teach you the spell for attracting material goods."  She sat in the shade of the tall elm with her full skirt spread out around her and waited until everyone was quiet and settled before continuing.  "First, write down whatever it is you desire on a clean sheet of paper, then place the paper on a small square of green cloth.  You must concentrate on it for a few minutes.  That might be hard for you, Milosh," she teased.  The other students laughed.  They liked for Milosh to be put in his place.  Just because he was the son of the Bandoleer, it didn't make him better than everyone else--even though he acted like it.  And he played mean tricks on the younger ones who were too timid and afraid to say anything.  "Try to visualize the object before you--the shape, texture, color.  Feel pride in owning it, the pleasure you hope it will bring, what you will do with it."  She looked at each of her students, making sure they understood.  "Then hold the paper to your forehead and say three times:  'I have you, I hold you, I keep you.'
"Fold the paper into the green cloth and tie it with a length of red wool.  Tie seven knots into the wool and as you tie each knot, say, 'You are mine, I own you.'  Put the green cloth with the paper in a small box, and each day, for seven days, hold the box to your forehead and say three times, 'You are mine, I own you.'  After you have done this, put the box away in the back of a drawer."

"Will I have lots of gold if I do that?" Milosh asked.

"It will bring success to those who are patient and deserving," Lyuba answered.
For the next several hours, Lyuba taught the children other spells: the spell using the power of trees, a ritual to cleanse the aura of their individual spaces, the spell for strength.  When they got older, she would teach them the spells for attracting romance and for keeping a loyal lover.  For now, however, she would teach only those things that were appropriate and what they could understand.
When the day's lessons were complete, and the elm's shadow once again lengthened, the parents came for their children.  Concerned, Lyuba watched Milosh return to his hut alone.  His chakra, that point of light indicating the heart, was dark and brown rather than green as it should be.

Much was expected of the only son of the Bandoleer.  He held promise, but he had much to learn.  Unlike his father, he was impatient and quick to judge others.  His focus was on material things, and he ignored what was important.  There was also a darkness in his spirit; something that could be dangerous if not corrected.

He would go and prepare the paper, wrapped in green cloth and tied with a thread of red wool, and wish for much gold.  He had not understood.

Book Tour: Cover of Darkness #Mystery #Rafflecopter #GoddessFish

Welcome to the Virtual Book Tour for Cover of Darkness, a dynamic thriller by Gregory Delaurentis. Enjoy the post and the book excerpt. And don't forget to enter the rafflecopter giveaway below the author's links. One randomly chosen commenter will win a $50 Amazon/BN gift card.

WHAT KIND OF WRITER AM I? by Gregory Delaurentis

I am a determined writer, that’s the best way that I can put it. I remember the recent past where I toiled under the shadow of traditional publishers. I wrote query letters to agents and editors, and the publishing houses themselves, pitching book after book. I jumped genres to see which one I was good at and got rejection letter after rejection letter. I started to build a folder of them just to see how many I would collect. The folder bulged into three folders full of rejection letters. This can easily be disheartening because many of the letters weren’t even written or personally typed. The few that were at least were encouraging, admonishing me to continue writing. My book just wasn’t what they were looking for at this time, and then there was a signature on the bottom.

However, the vast majority of the rejection slips were poor photocopies of photocopies and I had the feeling that my query wasn’t even considered by whomever I sent it to. My envelope was simply opened; the SASE stuffed with a copy of a rejection letter and then sent off. I went through years of this humiliation, yes, I call it humiliation, but I continued to write, continued to try to hone my craft, and worked hard to be a better writer with each keystroke.
I have a dogged determination to succeed in whatever I do, because I believe in myself. When the avenue for Indie-publishing opened up, I studied it. This was my opportunity to slough away the middle man and search for my fans up front and personal. I wanted to be attainable to them personally and not through some monolithic corporation distilling my writing and literally absorbing all of the profits. An unfair system all the way around. I wanted to circumnavigate it and push off on my own, to which I did.

What kind of writer am I? I am one that will not give up, and one that believes in himself enough to undertake this adventure of indie-publishing with no safety net. If I receive a rejection this time, it’s from someone who has taken the time to read my work and criticize it, and not someone sifting through a pile of query letters, only to send them back practically unopened.

COVER OF DARKNESS
By
Gregory Delaurentis

BLURB:

A high profile murder of a Wall Street executive in Westchester pits three people against the criminal underbelly of Manhattan nightlife. In their search for a killer, they are forced to travel to the edge of sanity and morality, while stumbling onto their own confusing secrets as well. The Cover of Darkness is a gritty noir saga that untangles a web of deceit in the course of tracking down a brutal murderer.

EXCERPT

David first opened the door to a closet on the left, searching it with the gun muzzle, before approaching the door at the end of the hall and kicking it open. An angry, naked man stood on the other side, his anger changing to fear in seconds once he beheld the gun pointing in his direction.

“Get back into bed,” David ordered.

The pale-bodied man responded as he staggered backward. The foot of the bed struck the back of his knees, sending him seated on the mattress. The woman on the bed had by this time covered herself with the sheets, and curled her legs up.

While Kevin stood nervously in the doorway, David searched the room and the closets, the muzzle of the shotgun again serving as a probe, but found no one.
“What the…?” Chase asked David.

After searching through the room, David tossed the shotgun to Kevin.
Suddenly, Chase went white-hot heat, crawling backward into the arms of his woman in sheer panic screaming, “What do you want?!”

“I want information,” David demanded, going to the foot of the bed, standing before them with Kevin directly behind him. “I want to know who whacked Osterman.”

“How am I to know?!” Chase shouted back. His hair was a wild tangle, his eyes wide as saucers with fright.

“Don’t yell at me,” David said calmly. “I want answers. I’m not interested in killing you.”

“You bust into my crib and start throwing guns around. You’re crazy, man, what do you think I’m thinking?”

“You were moving dope for Osterman,” David persisted, ignoring Chase’s remarks.

“Osterman! He jerked me.”

“With the Colombians.”

“Damn right.”

“And you didn’t like that.”

“No, I didn’t.”

“So, you had one of your soul brothers do him in.”

“Oh hell, no. My people don’t kill. We don’t mess with weapons like you do.”
“And the reason for that?”

“More jail time . . . What are you? A cop?”

“Don’t worry about what I am,” David growled back. “You are moving weight. I want to know what happened after Osterman jerked you.”

“He jerked me. That’s all.”

“That’s all? You didn’t go to the Colombians? Liar!”

“Yes, yes, I did that!” Chase corrected. “I went to the Colombians as soon as I knew he jerked me. I begged them to give me another chance. They said they would, if I replaced their one hundred kilos. One hundred kilos! How do I do that?”

“Put bullets into Osterman for revenge.”

“How is that going to get me my one hundred kilos?”

“Let me explain it to you, genius. The Colombians trust Osterman enough to give him a heavy shipment. You find it, whack him, and take his shipment back to the Colombians. Paid in full.”

Chase thought that over for a second or two. “But that’s not what happened.”

“Convince me otherwise.”

The word “Freeze!” were suddenly heard from the doorway. David frowned as he glanced over his shoulder to see a scruffy looking black male, armed with his own shotgun.

Release Blitz: Sexy as Hell #BDSM #Trilogy

Sexy as Hell Trilogy  -
The Virgin, The Player and The Vixen
By Harlem Dae

Sexy as Hell is an erotic trilogy that will submerge you into the black heart of a world of bondage and discipline, Dominance and submission, sadism and masochism.

Dare to take this twisting journey with Victor and you’ll learn the ropes with him, experience every carnal sensation and fall into a dark and dangerous love that grips like a fist and binds like a collar.

Get to know Zara, his sultry teacher, and you’ll gasp when she doles out her sinful instructions but then delight in the stunning results she not only demands but achieves. It seems Heaven and Hell are not so far apart when she holds the reins.

Victor has his layers peeled back, but when he does the same to try to get to his Vixen’s core, a revelation appears. Because Zara is a woman whose vast sexual experience is both her strength and her weakness; she can inflict pain and pleasure, make lusty demands and instruct, but she needs so much more, she needs…

Yes, the time has come to for her to admit to her needs and confess to the repairing her soul hungers for. A sea of memories, a lifetime of control requires an acknowledgement that will cut through her barriers, and there’s only one man up for the job—her virgin, her student, her newly trained monster, Victor Partridge.

Please note, in order to enjoy Victor and Zara’s adventures, the trilogy must be read in order.

About the Authors

Lily Harlem and Natalie Dae have been writing together for several years on top of their individual author projects. Their joint name is now Harlem Dae. They enjoy being represented by traditional houses including HarperCollins and Total-E- Bound as well as self-publishing their sexy stories on Amazon. Both live in the UK and gain great satisfaction from bouncing characters and their raunchy antics back and forth, growing, nurturing and stoking plot lines until they steam off the page and push boundaries. They consider themselves to be solitary, whacky, spontaneous and desirous for many things including perfection and are frequently caught sending messages back and forth referring to each other as Rodney and Delboy.

About the Sexy as Hell Novels

The Virgin – Book #1

London – one meeting, one month of lessons and a landslide of depraved new desires.

My journey to Hell started with a decaff coffee. Nothing more than a grey mug full of dull-brown liquid devoid of its most useful ingredient.

One sip, one smile, one touch of her hand and it was soon clear my life wasn’t destined to stay dull. Oh, no, suddenly I had a month of bedroom education planned by a sultry vixen who intended to broaden my horizons beyond my usual peach-pink palette.

She wanted to take me to deep purples and navy blues and the pitch blackness that was pure sin. And on the other side of that blackness was a place that might look like Hell, with debauchery and wantonness, people playing devil’s advocate, luring innocents into the hotter, steamier corners of the world.

Her world.

Oh, yes, she promised each night to take me there and paint me an orange-and-red picture that would come alive, flickering like flames, enticing me, holding me spellbound and eager to learn more. To touch, explore, drown in coming.

And drown I would. I was no match for her tricks and taunts. My only chance of survival was to show her that I was no vanilla virgin. I had a rainbow of mastery up my sleeve, too, and if she just opened her eyes, she might be dazzled enough to stay—stay and take ‘my’ lessons. If she didn’t kill me first, that was, with pleasure.

The Player – Book #2

Tuscany – New lovers, new lessons and an eruption of uncontrollable lust.
The real world was working for me, its pastel shades and straight-and-narrow route a familiar path to tread. It suited me, this normality; it was good for me too. Or so I thought, because the new light in my life, Catherine, was not quite fulfilling my needs. Her lack of colour, the weak whispers of her kisses were not touching my soul the way I’d become accustomed to. I needed more.

More of everything in my darkly addictive rainbow; the wicked wantonness of sin, the depraved pleasure of seedy seduction and the prism of delight I took in being struck…and of doing the striking. I missed the fireworks, the brilliant displays of Technicolor ecstasy that strung me out and bared me to my bones. I wanted to go there again, and take Catherine, too, see if I could have that pyrotechnic display with her. Did she have a riot of vibrant shades beneath her skin or was she magnolia to the core?

My teacher, Zara, told me I could discover her palette. That all I needed to do was show Catherine my world, my new world, the one I’d never inhabited alone. Zara couldn’t come with me this time, she had a new student now. I was on my own, it was down to me. Or was it?

It seemed my teacher had other ideas after all, and when she sashayed back into my life with her rules and murmurs of encouragement, I had no choice but to listen to her, take her advice, follow her lead, even though I knew nothing ever ended well with her. But resistance was futile, my protests fell on deaf ears. But that suited my plans, didn’t it?

The Vixen – Book #3

Venice – Two people, a shed load of baggage and a way forward that takes extreme to new limits.

In an explosion of clarity, the mist cleared and I understood what my lascivious teacher, Zara, really was beneath the surface. I couldn’t see her beautiful core. Like a dank fog warning off poor unfortunates who wandered her way, she wouldn’t let the darkness lift, refused to light the way. But she gave me a key. It was small, stiff, and I was afraid of what I’d find if I turned it. But I did. I couldn’t resist. She did that to me.

In a tumble of truths, I understood her bleak voids and why she filled them with sharp slicing reds and hostile bruising purples. What had happened, what they’d done had bled her of colour and created a woman who needed so much more and always would—for all of time. But I could give her back that vibrancy, I was sure I could; my colours complimented hers and I had plenty of them. My needs could switch to take her to those grey places she needed to visit again in order to obliterate the memories that caused her pain. In the space they’d occupied, I’d create a pile of shimmering, perfectly cut-diamond memories, a rainbow cloud of sugar mist to replace that dankness. I could do it; I would help her become more beautiful than anything I’d seen before.

And within that new, delicate ‘thing’ was us. Victor and Zara. Unconventional, extreme, romantic, we spanned every shimmering stroke of the rainbow and all the coal-black shadows on the way down to Hell. But together we could fight demons. I would be her knight in shining armour even if it pushed me to the very limits of what I ever believed I could do to a woman. And what thrilled me, was if I bared my soul, found the courage to be a monster as well as an angel, I had a very real chance of making her mine—or did I? Because the only thing predictable about Zara, was that she was completely unpredictable.

Excerpt from The Virgin

I sighed then sipped my coffee, wondering what on earth was the matter with me. Perhaps this game with Victor was dragging me down. If that was the case, I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I stared into space, working out what to show him next. There were the Swedes—mustn’t forget those—but maybe they’d be better off left for the finale. God, that would give him a last visual to remember his time with me by. I could only hope he learned from what I was teaching him and didn’t file it in the back of his mind. What a waste if he didn’t use it with future women, either as a sub or having a go at domination himself. When he’d got going last night he’d given off an unstoppable energy. It was muted assertiveness yes, but I was pretty sure it was there.

Bile rose into my throat.

Was I coming down with something? That would be all I’d need, being sick smack bang in the middle of a bet. I breathed deeply, waiting for a slash of nausea to strike, but nothing came. Maybe the milk in the coffee wasn’t as fresh as it could be. I shrugged, once again studying the men in the coffee shop. One of them, nice-looking and hair much like Victor’s, greying a bit at the temples but not quite as long at the back as his, was typing steadfastly on his laptop. I wondered what he did for a living that meant he spent his coffee break working. Or perhaps he wasn’t working at all. He might well be firing off saucy emails to a woman who read them while frigging her clit. Would Victor be up for something like that?

I wasn’t about to wait to find out. I reached into my bag and pulled out my phone. Having stored his email address in my mind, I tapped the icon for my mail app and typed it in, taking a moment to think on what to put. In the subject line I typed CAN YOU WALK PROPERLY TODAY? then proceeded with the main entry.

Dear Mr Doesn’t-Know-It-All-But-Knows-A-Bit-More-Than-Before,
I hope this email finds you in good spirits. How is your arse? Sore? I imagine it is. Mine isn’t, just in case you were wondering. I have a blissful kind of ache going on down there, and every time I move I think of you with your cock inside me. I have to admit, I’m wondering how that cock would feel in my cunt again, but we have plenty of time for me to find out, don’t we?

Now, about tonight. I doubt your back hole is up for any more invasions just yet, so I thought us watching a performance might be the best way to go. There’s an act you haven’t seen yet—The Harlequin; you’ll see why when you get there—and it will show you a thing or two.

8 o’clock sharp at Eden Street. If you don’t turn up this time…well, it’d be pointless if you didn’t. You know damn well I’ll only come and find you and do what I have in mind anyway. And you’ll enjoy it, I promise.

By the way, I’m enjoying a lovely coffee. Isn’t it about time you took a break?
Mistress Z

I smiled as I hit SEND, imagining his mail alarm tinkling, him opening his email browser thinking it was a client or one of his staff, only to find little old me had barged into his inbox. I wanted to barge into his inbox for real, but like I’d said to him, I didn’t think his arse could take another invasion so soon.

I sipped and gazed around while waiting for his response. If he didn’t send one immediately, then that was all right. He might be busy drawing or in a meeting or something. I hoped he wasn’t—hoped he was at his desk, bored and waiting for a decent distraction. Did he ever get bored at work, what with all those important projects to be getting on with?

My phone gave a solitary blip, and I looked down to see a number one in the corner of my mail icon. Excited, and wanting to laugh so loud it made people stare, I opened my mail.

Dear Mistress Z,
You are so naughty, emailing me like this. What did I tell you last night? I’m a busy man—too busy to be having filthy email conversations with you. Too busy to take a bloody break.

Yes, I’ll be at Eden Street at 8, not because you ordered me there but because I want to see The Harlequin. I enjoy a good show—perhaps you’d like me to take you to one of my kind some day? And yes, my arse is sore, thank you very much.

Mr Won’t-Take-Any-More-Orders-For-The-Rest-Of-The-Day

Ha! So he wasn’t so busy that he didn’t have time to respond. And as for not taking any more orders…he’d be taking them tonight.

Dear Mr I’m-Too-Busy-For-My-Mistress-Who-Likes-To-Put-Things-Up-My-Arse,
Thank you so much for your prompt response, despite being a very busy man. I appreciate you finding the time to squeeze me into your hectic schedule. I should be flattered. However, there’s always time for a bit of slap and tickle, and I aim to show you that all work and no play might make Victor a very dull man. And it had made you dull, hadn’t it? Admit it. When was the last time you had fun before you met me? Lighten up a little.

If you have a client sitting opposite your desk—and I can’t imagine you being so rude as to write filth to me if you did; again, not enough balls—or you have someone in your office, or perhaps you’re in someone else’s office and answering mail on your phone, just imagine what they’d think if they knew what we were talking about. Don’t you think it makes for an interesting deviance from your usual boring day? What a secret to have, sending raunchy messages to a woman when no one else knows.

What a secret to have when a woman emails you saying she’d like nothing more than to pay you a visit, yank down your trousers, and stuff your very hard cock into her mouth.

And you are hard, aren’t you?

Mistress Z

I sent the message and smiled. I was skating on thin ice here, risking annoying him or getting him so exasperated that the next response from him might not be so kind. Still, it was passing the time, and I could imagine him now, reading my message with a too-hard cock and no way to relieve it unless he visited the bathroom and took himself in hand. If he was in a meeting, all the better. A stiffy when sitting at a conference table could only make him want to see me tonight all the more.

My alert pinged.

Dear Mistress-Z-Who-Is-So-Infuriating-She-Makes-Me-Want-To-Scream,
I’m alone in my office, trying to work, and no, that doesn’t mean you can send me more of your dirty little messages. I really do need to get along here, and it’s all very well saying I should have secrets and should enjoy all this email sex malarkey—and I am in a way, I just wish you hadn’t chosen today to do it—but I have deadlines.

I don’t want to brush you off, believe me I don’t, but in answer to your question, yes, I’m too damn hard and it’s going to take a while for me to stop thinking about your pert little body and concentrate on work.

Now stop it. I mean it, just stop.

Mr Wants-To-Fuck-Around-With-You-But-Can’t

A grin a mile wide spread across my face. That was all I’d been after, him admitting he wanted me, giving me some assurance that he’d be at Eden Street tonight. Oh, I knew he’d said he’d be there, but after his no-show before, I’d had to make sure. And now I knew he wanted to fuck me, was sitting at his desk trying to deflate his cock, I was on cloud nine.

As I was just about to hug myself in victory, the man who looked a bit like Victor came up to my table. I stared at him, wondering what he could want, and slid my phone back into my bag.

“May I join you?” he asked.

“If you like,” I said, giving him my best I-can-hook-you-in-a-heartbeat smile. It felt wrong on my face, stretching it painfully, and I didn’t understand why. “So,” I said, following my usual patter, “what brings a hunk like you here?”

He grinned, blue eyes flashing, and placed his laptop on the table. “Having the chance to pick up a woman like you.”

Oh, someone else who thought he should be the one to run the show. I refrained from rolling my eyes and gave him another smile instead. Inwardly I sighed at having to go through this again, when all I wanted was to go home and think about tonight. I didn’t like other men encroaching on my time when I was teaching someone else.

So why were you here the other day then? The day Victor dropped in and caught you looking at other men?

I frowned. All right, so I was a hypocrite. I’d have to be honest with myself—this man wasn’t floating my boat, no matter how similar to Victor he was. No matter how attractive he was.

“I’m not here to be picked up,” I said. “I’m…well, I’m seeing someone.”
I stood and grabbed my bag, slinging the strap over my shoulder and heading to the door without looking back. I couldn’t believe I’d said that to him, had turned down the chance at a one-night stand come the end of the month. But it was all I’d been able to think of to get rid of him, to make my exit appear acceptable.

There was no other reason for saying what I had at all.

The future…

Look out for secondary characters in the trilogy, they all have their own sexy as hell stories to tell and they’re coming soon! More details about The Star, The Harlequin and The Mistress on the Harlem Dae website.

EXCERPT
“Oh, God. Have mercy.”
“Not this time, babe.” Jared easily lifted her butt and slid one end of the scarf under it. Quickly, he had her loins encased in silk and handed the ends of the scarf to her care. “I won’t be needing these for awhile. You may find a use for them.”
Her fingers curled around the scarf and he settled between her legs. He laved the silk around the edges of her pussy and then looked up with a grin. “Isn’t it amazing how silk feels when it gets wet—your juices and my tongue.”
She tugged on the silk scarf, increasing the pressure against her loins, and nodded jerkily. “Make me come, Jared.”
“Like this?” He tongued the silk covering her pussy and pushed a little inside her folds.
“Oh, yeah. That’ll do it. A little more.”
He lifted his head and shook it when he saw her distressed glower. “Not yet,” he whispered, retrieving the scarf. “Not nearly yet. You won’t come until I’m ready for you to come.” He laughed as her gaze burned into him. He grabbed her wrist and tied one end of the scarf loosely around it. Her eyes rounded with awareness.
Her lower lip trembled slightly when he tied the overlap of the knot around a bedpost. She didn’t move when he reached for her other wrist.
“You know what I’m going to do?”
She nodded. “You’re going to ravish me.”
