Out Now! Eyes Wide Open by Lucy Felthouse (@cw1985) #BDSM #MMF

Blurb:

A chance meeting opens Fiona’s eyes to some very sexy possibilities.

Recent graduate Fiona Gillespie is stuck working in a grimy pub in London’s East End, and living in a horrid flat. It’s only while she figures out what she wants to do career-wise, but that’s easier said than done.

When she sees an advertisement for a job at a plush Mayfair hotel, she jumps at the chance. Determination and a spot of luck land Fiona her dream role—and it comes with accommodation included.

Her job and living situation sorted, things are on the up. Unfortunately, her personal life is lacklustre. It doesn’t bother her, though—not until she meets businessmen James and Logan, and her head is well and truly turned.

When a misunderstanding leads Fiona to James and Logan’s sumptuous top-floor hotel suite, she has no idea what she’s about to uncover. Her imagination runs wild, but not wild enough to get to the truth—James and Logan are a couple, and they’re into some seriously intriguing activities.

Fascinated, she launches herself into a whole new world with the two men. But is this just physical, or is their arrangement set to become something more?

*Eyes Wide Open has been re-released with a stunning new cover and has been re-edited.

Excerpt:

Continuing to surreptitiously peer at the men over the rim of her glass, it hit her that this was the first time in months she’d looked at a man with interest, much less two men—and at the same time! She was ready to snatch her gaze away if one of them happened to glance at her, but it wasn’t surprising the pair had attracted her attention.
The tailored business suits would draw the eye even on someone unremarkable. But on these two, the fine clothing was practically an orgasm for the gaze. They sat opposite each other, and their angle to her meant she had a view of both their profiles—lucky her.
The one to her right had very dark, almost black hair, with a bit of a curl to it, a long straight nose, a trimmed goatee and, if she wasn’t mistaken, deep blue eyes. It was hard to tell for sure from this distance and perspective.
The one on her left had lighter, shorter hair, stubble that by some magical feat still looked smart, and the most sinful lips she’d ever set eyes on. And speaking of eyes, she thought perhaps his were green. What she wouldn’t give to go and check both of them out close up, preferably naked.
Shocked at her own sudden lustful thoughts, she inhaled more than drank another sip of the juice. Unfortunately, it hit her throat all wrong and she almost slammed the glass down as she started to cough. She tried so hard to suppress the cough, eager not to draw attention to herself, that she made it worse. Snatching up the thick linen serviette from the table, she held it to her mouth as she spluttered in a most embarrassing manner, and tears began to roll down her cheeks. By now, she was sure the whole damn restaurant was staring at her, and she wished the tablecloths reached the floor, like the ones in the restaurant upstairs, so she could hide under the table until she regained her composure.
Swallowing repeatedly to try to soothe her irritated throat, she gasped as a gentle hand laid on her shoulder, which set her off all over again.
“Oh God,” came a voice. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to make you jump. I just wanted to make sure you were all right. See if I could help.”
Unable to speak, Fiona waved a hand to try to signal that she’d be okay, but unless the guy was a mind reader, he’d have no luck figuring that out. Blinking through the tears that marred her vision, her urge to hide underneath the table grew stronger. Christ, it was only the hottie with the blue eyes. And, if she wasn’t mistaken, his sexy friend with the green eyes was also hovering close by, concern etched into his handsome features.
Managing to drag in a breath, she huffed out, “Thank you.”
Just then, Jeremy arrived with a carafe of water, complete with ice, and poured her a glassful. “Here you go, Fiona. Drink this. Are you all right? Anything else I can get you?”
She picked up the glass and took a tiny sip of the freezing cold liquid, hoping it wouldn’t make her cough again. She seemed to have got a handle on it, though her now-sore throat wasn’t at all happy with her. After taking several more tiny sips, she let out a sigh of relief—it seemed her mortifying coughing bout was over. Then she moved on to bigger gulps, buying herself some time to think of something witty to say, anything to convince the three men looking at her that she wasn’t some kind of imbecile who couldn’t even manage a glass of juice without choking.
Unfortunately, her creative brain, which had been on fire up until she’d started lusting over the hotties, had taken its leave. So she decided to opt for the truth. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to disturb you. My juice just went down the wrong way, that’s all. I’m fine, really. I’ll just finish my drink and be on my way. Thank you for the water, Jeremy.” She aimed a weak smile in his direction.
Blue Eyes turned to Jeremy. “Yeah, thanks, buddy. If you need to get on, we’ll keep an eye on her for a bit, make sure she’s okay. Don’t worry.”
A little warily, Jeremy looked at the two men, then at Fiona. “Are you going to be all right, Fiona? Do you need me to call someone and let them know you’ll be late or anything?”
She shook her head. “Honestly, Jeremy, I’ll be fine. It was just a coughing fit, that’s all. No lasting damage, except maybe to my makeup. And no, nobody will be missing me yet. It’s fine. Thank you so much, though.”
“Just give me a wave if you need me,” he said, backing away.
“Will do.”
With that, he morphed from concerned acquaintance into efficient waiter in an instant and went back to looking after his tables and the patrons frequenting them.
Knowing she’d now have to address the two men who’d caused her blush-worthy incident in the first place, she took yet another huge gulp of the icy water, then dabbed at her face with the serviette. Putting it down, she turned to Blue Eyes, who still stood by her side, but had removed his hand from her shoulder, with a wide smile.
“I’m so sorry,” she said again. “Please excuse the state of me, I’m sure I must look terrible. Thank you so much, both of you, for coming to check on me, but I’m really fine. No Heimlich manoeuvre required. I’ll just finish my drink… drinks… and be on my way. Please feel free to go back to your meeting.”
Green Eyes stepped a little closer. “You look just fine, sweetheart, except for being a little flushed, but that’s no bad thing.” He shot an almost imperceptible glance at Blue Eyes, and Fiona had to wonder if she’d imagined it. And if not, what on earth did he mean by that, anyway?
“Yes,” his friend chipped in, moving around so that he, too, could look at her face. “You look great. We’ll be just over there if you need us, all right? Don’t you hesitate to call out or wave, okay?”
Fiona wished they’d stop making such a fuss. But they were just being polite, she supposed. So, fixing the smile back on her face, she said, “Thank you. And I will. I promise.”
She waited until they’d retaken their seats before she started to make preparations for leaving hers. She didn’t want to dash off straight away as that might concern them further and send Jeremy into a tizzy, so she acted as coolly and calmly as possible, finishing the water, then the juice, as she continued making notes on her tablet. Finally, feeling able to leave without raising any eyebrows, she got up and collected her things.
Her movement attracted the attention of Blue Eyes and Green Eyes, and she gave them both a smile and a nod before moving off. She didn’t see Jeremy, who must have been in the kitchen collecting something, so she made a mental note to thank him when she next saw him. That was the downside to posh material serviettes and electronic devices—it meant there was no paper or pen handy to scrawl him a little note with.
She wasn’t quite ready to head back to the PR & Marketing Suite yet, at least not until she’d fixed her no doubt ruined makeup—which would raise a few eyebrows and spawn some questions—so she decided she’d dash up to her room for a few minutes and sort herself out.
After pressing the button for the elevator, she swiped through some of the photos she’d taken on the tablet as she waited for it to arrive. A couple of minutes later, the car arrived with a ping and a swish of doors. She stepped in, pressed the number for her floor and moved back. Just as the doors began closing, she realised the table the two men had been sitting at was visible from her position.
They were still there, and she was glad no one could see or hear her reaction as she looked at them, only to find two pairs of very arresting eyes looking right back at her—with interest.
And, as her view of them grew narrower and narrower until only a sliver was left, Blue Eyes flashed her a positively wicked grin just before he disappeared altogether.
Clinging onto the brass handrail behind her to steady herself, Fiona willed herself to get a grip. She’d been having a really good day, right up until those two had somehow awakened her hormones and made her bloody fruit juice go down wrong. And the way they’d clearly been watching her… and that smile! Shaking her head, she wanted desperately to believe they were some kind of dodgy perverts who frequented hotel restaurants to prey on lone young women, but common sense and cold, hard facts told her that wasn’t the case.
For one, what had they done? Offered help, and concern. That was all. What had they gained? Nothing, except maybe peace of mind in knowing she was okay. Her tablet and phone were still in her possession, so they weren’t thieves. Dodgy folk didn’t spend time in The Portmannow Hotel. It just didn’t happen.
So if they weren’t dodgy perverts and were just two relatively young businessmen, why had they been watching her like that? Their expressions, the looks in their eyes, indicated something altogether different from innocent concern for her wellbeing. The smile Blue Eyes had thrown her had been nothing short of sinful. Lustful, even. One Lucifer himself would have been proud of.
God, was it possible that they… found her attractive?

She needed a fresh start…

ICU Nurse Sadie Montgomery moved to New Orleans after her entire world fell apart. The idea was borne of desperation as she sank further into a depression so deep and dark, she had stopped feeling. It isn’t until she crosses paths with Ram that she finally feels a spark of life return. The only problem is, she doesn’t want to be dependent upon anyone. The pain of losing it all is still too fresh. Not to mention, in Ram’s world, the women submit themselves body and soul.

He wasn’t looking for love…

Former Army Ranger, Ramsey O’Malley, is not looking for a long-term commitment from a woman beyond a scene or two at Club Underworld. He doesn’t have the time nor the inclination to begin something he cannot finish, not as a single dad with a thriving psychology practice. Except, he is drawn to his newest patient. She’s forbidden, like the apple in the garden of Eden, and all he wants to do it take a bite.

But they could not deny their desire…

When Sadie makes a surprise appearance at Club Underworld looking to take a walk on the wild side, Ram knows he cannot let another man have her. He wants to be the one to introduce her to submission. But can he convince her to submit to his brand of lovemaking? And will just one night be enough?

Publisher’s Note: This steamy contemporary romance contains elements of power exchange.

Ram arrived at his office and had just finished getting everything in order, when the door chimed in the waiting room. Taking a deep breath, he opened it and had to stop his tongue from hanging out. Sadie was wearing a breezy, seaside blue sundress that ended just below her knees. The halter top framed her breasts as if they were a gift tied up in ribbon. The color complemented her golden, sun-kissed skin, and it made him wonder what color her nipples were beneath the cotton material.

Fuck, he had it bad. Especially when he glanced at her hair in a thick braid over one dainty shoulder and envisioned it wrapped around his fist as he pounded into her from behind. Down, boy. She had him nearly coming out of his skin, his dick twitching in excitement at her nearness.

“Come on in and take a seat,” he said, holding the door open. She brushed past him with a tremulous smile and he caught a whiff of her scintillating ginger scent which made him want to bury his face between her pert breasts and inhale it.

Instead of taking a seat in one of the chairs by his desk, she walked over to the two leather easy chairs with the cedar wood end table between them, and sat. Interesting choice. He did it on purpose: not indicating where the person should sit but allowing them to choose.

The leather seating was more intimate, less formal, and he found patients typically sat there when they felt comfortable enough with him to start dredging up the depths of their trauma.

It meant she trusted him. If she were a sub, he’d reward her with an orgasm. As she was not, he would make sure he complimented her efforts.

He closed the door. Then, with his clipboard in hand, he joined her, sitting in the other chair.

Before he even opened his mouth, Sadie started. “I know what you’re going to ask. Yes, I have set up some fun for this afternoon.”

He cocked his head as he settled himself. “Good. And what did you decide?”

“To spend the afternoon at the Hotel Monteleone’s spa—you know, facial, body wrap, pedicure. Girl stuff,” she said with such a dazzling smile, he was charmed.

He hid his grin, feeling the corners of his mouth twitch. “And what else?”

“That’s not enough?” Some of her smile slipped, concern scrunching her brow.

“No, not when you have been using work as an escape and forgetting that you need balance. One afternoon is a start. It’s a good start. But I want you to start thinking about adding stuff that you do each week that is not work. Take it from me, you need more than work in your life.”

“And do you have more than work?” she asked, nibbling on her lower lip as she studied him. There was an impudent gleam in her gaze.

Some of her enthusiasm over her feat had dimmed. She was a fighter, and wasn’t going to surrender easily. He liked the challenge she presented; so did his dick. So much so, he shifted in his seat to hide his growing erection. The women who fought against their nature and needs—when they finally did surrender, it was infinitely sweeter than submissives who did as they were told all the time. And he ached for her, both physically, which was startling, and in his chest as she struggled with her emotions. “Yes, I do have more in my life than work,” he said. “It’s a balancing act and one I don’t always manage well. No one does. I think you are off to a great start. But it’s just the start. You and I both know there’s no quick fix. And Sadie, you must want the zest back in your life above and beyond holding on to the past. You must want to let go of the crushing guilt that you survived the accident. I know first-hand it’s not easy.”

“How would you know?” She sniffed, trying to hold back her tears.

“Because twelve years ago, my Army Ranger unit came under heavy fire in Afghanistan. As we were trying to evacuate, our team came across some roadside bombs. I was the only one of my team who made it out alive.” Most of him had made it out. His left foot had died on that road too.

She gasped, her hand went to her mouth. “How did you survive?”

“Not well, at least not the first few years. It takes time. You must have patience with yourself. It’s a baby step process. So, what you have so far is great. I’m proud of you for making those strides with a bit of pampering for yourself today. But instead of thinking short term, maybe we can make a weekly chart. And I want you going out at least once a week to do something enjoyable. It can be antiquing, or going to the movies, or meeting a friend for dinner, or spending the afternoon at a bookstore. It doesn’t have to be grandiose, but it will get easier the more you do it.”

Her lower lip trembled, and she glanced away, but not before he spied the sheen of tears. In a broken whisper, she said, “I don’t know how. I thought moving here would help, make me less afraid of going out, but it hasn’t. If we hadn’t been heading to the musical that night…”

Oh, baby!

Ram had to fight every urge and Dom instinct inside him that demanded he scoop her up, hold her in his lap, and soothe her. Offer her his shoulder to lean on and allow him to carry the weight of her sorrow.

Running from the Cyborg (Terras Five – Book Five) by Anne Kane #SciFi #Romance @ChangelingPress

Running from the Cyborg

 (Terras Five – Book Five)
By Anne Kane
Genres: Sci –Fi, Cyborgs, romance

Blurb:
She can run but she can’t hide from the sexy cyborg who has her in his sights.

Caitlyn: Gorgeous. Feisty. Human. A survivor in an unforgiving galaxy. Running from an enemy she can’t see for reasons she doesn’t understand. Whoever he is, he’s trying to kill her.

Jakob: Large. Mouthwateringly sexy. Loyal. Cyborg. Determined to find the female who seduced him, gave him a night he’d never forget, then disappeared before he woke. When he finally manages to catch up to her, he intends to do whatever it takes to keep her at his side.

Excerpt:
Jakob stalked toward her, two hundred plus pounds of naked rippling muscle and attitude. His stiffly erect cock outlined in mouthwatering detail beneath his flight suit left little doubt as to what he wanted. Unfortunately, the glare he directed at her said he probably wanted to tan her hide first.
Not that she didn’t deserve it. She had snuck out on him without any explanation the last time they were together. Caitlyn had a feeling that cyborgs didn’t appreciate being tricked. Something to do with their manly image and all that.
She stood her ground, eyes darting wildly in all directions, seeking an escape route.
She let out a long sigh. Not happening. Not this time. He’d caught up to her on one of the smallest and most crowded space stations in the sector, leaving her with limited options. Only one viable one, really. Try to deflect his anger with sex.
Hey. A girl had to use whatever worked.
He stopped a bare arm’s length in front of her. If looks could kill, she’d be dead at his feet. He was still glaring when he pulled her into his arms and covered her lips with his mouth.
Damn he tasted good. Too good. If she weren’t careful, he could be her downfall. She wanted to run away and hide almost as much as she wanted to spread herself naked beneath him.
This was crazy. Totally, completely, utterly crazy. She was acting like some lovesick idiot, not a grown woman who had been taking care of herself since she was orphaned at the age of fourteen.
Jakob gentled his hold and ran his tongue across the seam of her lips, coaxing her to open. When she complied, he took immediate advantage, plundering the depths with his tongue.
She resisted for the merest fraction of a second before melting against his warm bulk, reveling in the feeling of his hard body against her.
Her reaction to Jakob confused her. She’d never felt this kind of connection to a male before, cyborg or human. Never cared beyond the gratification of the physical act of joining. Too much was at stake to let herself get carried away with sentimental nonsense like love and happily ever after.
Hell, that was one of the reasons she preferred to satisfy her amorous side with cyborgs. Cyborgs were sensible when it came to sex. They were generally happy to play; love them and leave them. Cyborgs didn’t do forever, which left a big question unanswered.
Why had Jakob pursued her across the vast reaches of the galaxy? This wasn’t supposed to happen.
She sighed, stretching her arms up to wrap them around his neck. Lust swept through her in a deliciously warm wave. To hell with expectations and unanswered questions. She wanted him, and by the size of that bulge in his flight suit, he wanted her just as much. She could afford to take the time to satisfy that need before she abandoned him again.
As if sensing her surrender, Jakob scooped her up in his arms, striding through the crowd on the automated walkway. The tavern just beyond had private rooms available. It looked like that was where they were heading, which suited her just fine. She wasn’t sure if she’d be able to make it all the way back to his ship without doing something deliciously naughty.
$Like sticking her hands between them and stroking that monster of a hard-on?$
Jakob lifted his head. Something dark and dangerous glittered in the depths of his eyes. “What the hell were you thinking, running off like that? You didn’t even bother to say goodbye.”
So, he hadn’t quite gotten over that yet. Caitlyn raised her brows, refusing to surrender to his anger. “Goodbyes are overrated. I’m not one of your Terras Five breeders. I can take care of myself just fine, and I don’t owe you any explanations.”
“The hell you don’t.” He looked magnificent in that moment, exuding a raw sexuality, that sent a frisson of lust curling through her belly. Holding her close, he kicked the door to the tavern open and made straight for the back rooms, nodding to the barkeep on his way past. “I wasted the last moon cycle tracking you down.”
Shouldering his way into a private room, he lowered his head, reclaiming her lips. The kiss was pure alpha male, dominant and demanding. He ravaged her mouth, tasting, exploring, leaving her no doubt as to his intentions. Growling low in his throat, he set her on her feet, letting her slide down the length of his body. Holding her tight against him with the thick bulge of his cock pressed into her belly, his hands roamed her body. He pushed her shirt aside to explore the naked skin beneath.
She sighed, melting against him as she realized just how aroused he was. Angry and aroused. A very dangerous combination in a cyborg. She should be scared, but the heat radiating up from her loins left little room for anything but lust. She’d had other lovers, but none had ever left her feeling this raw hunger.
She moved against him, shaping her body to his as she returned his kiss with an intense passion. Rubbing her body against his, she played a dangerous game, taunting him with her own lust.
She didn’t care. She wanted him, wanted to feel his hard cock inside her, wanted to feel his hands moving over her burning flesh. She moaned and squirmed against his hard body.
Consequences be damned. She needed this.
He pulled his mouth away from her lips. “Strip.”

Kya
I cringed when I saw the billboard proclaiming, Girls! Girls! Girls! It was a tacky way to get attention, and I hated it. Averting my eyes, I turned the corner, pulled into the lot, and parked my old pickup behind the club. It was my first night at Show ’n Tails, and a definite step down from my old job, but I’d been fired and needed a gig ASAP.
The incident wasn’t my fault. There were two of us on the stage and Brandi was so sloshed she invaded my space and fell on her ass. As if that wasn’t enough, she accused me of tripping her. Well, one thing led to another and we both got canned. Another girl told me that Show ’n Tails was hiring and I went for an audition. The manager was an asshat, but he doesn’t ask too many questions. I like to keep a low profile.

This isn’t the life I wanted, but taking off my clothes pays the bills, and I won’t apologize for trying to earn a living. At least I’m not selling my body, just the illusion of sex. A lot of girls up their game, but not me. My virginity is the last piece of self-respect I own and I won’t give it up to some creep for any amount of money.

The heavy backdoor slammed shut and locked behind me and the manager shot me a dirty look. “Hey, Kya. You’re late.”

“Sorry, it won’t happen again. And my name is Raven when I’m working.”

Marty’s lip curled in a sneer. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever. You better get dressed. I mean undressed.” He snickered.

I ignored his disrespectful ass, and walked over to the dressing room. A row of dented lockers lined one wall. A wide counter with a lighted mirror behind it ran the length of the opposite wall. Everything stunk from sweat and cheap perfume. The long vanity was cluttered with makeup and no one made room for the new girl, so I started changing next to my locker. When a spot at the mirror opened up, I grabbed it and started working on my wild black curls.

Marty stuck his head in the door. “Hey, fresh meat, you’re on next.”

I knew he meant me. I was the newest girl there. Half of me cringed, the half that’s wolf. The half I keep hidden. Or is it a quarter of me I keep hidden? I guess it depends on how you look at it. A full-blooded wolf-shifter is already half human, although they’ll never admit to it. My father was a wolf, but my mother was human.
Does that mean I’m… Oh, fuck the fractions. No matter how you look at it, I’m a demiwolf.

But I look human. I checked my body in the mirror. Yep, a hot as hell human female stared back at me. Tacky, but sexy. Nothing says stripper like stiletto platform heels and a thong that shows off a girl’s booty. I slipped on a white, halter mini-dress with a drape-neck, an open back, and a side slit. Then I ran my hands through my curls and gave my lips one last swipe of purple-plum gloss.

It’s so much easier to call myself human and blend in with the majority. The humans are clueless. They know we exist, but they believe we keep to our own side of the tracks. The wolves are a different story. They can smell my lupine pheromones, but they don’t want me. I’m not pure. Fuck ‘em. At least I can make a living among the humans. Stripping might be a trashy job, but it pays for the life I’m trying to live. It’s not the life I want, but it’s all I’ve got. I used to dream about being accepted by my father’s people. Fat chance. They wouldn’t even accept him because he had a human lover and a half-breed kid.

My parents never married, but they lived together -- sometimes. When my father was around, I was daddy’s girl. But all too often, he would disappear as if he had no family. My mother would drink and tell me that he liked to hang out with his own kind in places where we weren’t accepted. When he came back from his trips, he’d act cold and resentful, but it wouldn’t last long. Eventually, he’d tell me he loved me and everything would be okay again. I thought nothing would keep us apart for good. I was wrong.
One day he didn’t come back. We found out he was killed in a bar fight. One of his so-called friends called me a mongrel and Dad died defending me. My mother cried and cried. She said this was why they never wanted kids. So I was what… an accident?

I couldn’t blame them. Not really. Life was hard enough without being born with this weird mix of genes. I hated myself, too. I wished I’d never been born. At least I could make things easier for my mother. As soon as I finished school, I left home and never looked back.

While waiting to go on, I thought about my routine -- floor work, then pole dancing, then back on the floor. I’m not nervous anymore about being naked in front of a roomful of men. I was at first, but now I focus on my moves. I’ve been scorned and dehumanized all my life, so I like to emphasize something I can do well -- dance.

I peeked through the curtain and watched Candy finish her routine. There’s a mirror behind the stage and a pole in the center. Chairs surrounded the stage for customers who wanted direct contact with the dancers. I watched one of the men put a bill in his mouth. Candy shoved her breasts in his face and used them to grab the money. There were hoots and hollers and more men waved bills at her. She collected all of her tips, then picked up her clothes, and ran off the stage.
The DJ, sitting in an alcove nearby, introduced me. “Next up is a beautiful lady who’s new here. You’re gonna see her naked for the first time tonight.”

Well, it’s not a complete lie. It’s my first time naked on this stage.

“Give Raven a nice warm welcome.”

My heartbeat skyrocketed as I stepped through the curtains and climbed the three steps to the stage. The opening bars of my music started up and I began to move.

Levi
My anticipation ran high. I’m always excited to see new talent. Samson made a joke about the taste of fresh meat and we all laughed, then I looked up at the stage and my eyes practically popped out of my head, like in one of those old cartoons. The new girl… what’s her name? Raven. She took my breath away. Her curvy shape and that thick black mane had me salivating. From what I could see, everything looked natural, and she had the best set of legs in the club.

“That is one hot piece of ass.” Samson stood up. “I need a closer look.”
Samson walked over to the stage and we all followed. Raven smiled in our direction and my heart took a leap. Her white mini dress emphasized all that golden skin, but it was her eyes that really stood out. Almond in shape and color, they seemed to be staring directly at me.

Happy Reading!

If you have not guessed, my true name is Cerridwen. Creirwy, Morfran and Taliesin are all children of my blood. I took this body, thinking it might serve me, but I chose wrongly. I chose the sister, not the brother. Those two scarcely knew what mysteries they would reveal… but I thank them, nevertheless.

Emrys. Poor Emrys. Would he have lain with his sister had I not inhabited her body? I think not. And Morgan? How did she learn? Well, I suppose… a mother always knows.

Stealing over to the cauldron, I peer inside. Empty at the moment, but there lies residue and I reach down to taste the blend.

I need more coltsfoot, I think. And, of course, blood…

Mentally, I pore over the faces I saw in the tavern … a man and woman traveling together, a trader and a thief. These are my choices, and perhaps I should have them all…

Incidentally, do you how the fae were created?

They were cauldron borne to serve the Sylph.

So, you see… my daughters are gifted with fae blood, but I am born of the essence from which they draw. They are whispers of the wind from which I am formed. They are breeze-kissed whilst I am the storm. They are sparks, I am the flame. They are demigods, like the fae. But I… I am a Goddess, and once the light of this world has been extinguished like the flames of a thousand dying stars, and the hearts of men are stillborn in their cradle of night… here, I shall remain.

Fools.

Kill me?

I’d like to see you try.

A thud sounded on my door. My shoulders tensed. I hoped it was one of my maids—I needed to get out of this thing. I hurried to the door and pushed it open. Prince Young stood in my doorway.

"Charlotte," he said. I looked into the hall behind him to see if someone else was passing, anyone who could help me—but it was only him.

"Please pardon me for coming to your chamber. I wondered if I might be able to have a word with you before the—"

Grabbing him by the shirt, I pulled him into my chamber. "Get in here," I said, shutting the door behind him. I took two steps toward the center of my room and said, "Quick, untie it. Help me take this off."

"Well... this is going better than expected," he said, half under his breath.

"Hurry, I can't breathe," I shouted.

Young's hands moved clumsily over the ribbons. "Sorry, I've never done this before," he said, "Uh-uhm. I mean—"

"That's okay. Neither have I," I said without thinking. What did I even mean by that?

"How do I do this?" he whispered.

I said, "Just try to loosen it. I just need a deep breath."

He pulled at the ribbons and I felt a slight release around my waist. I exhaled. "So, what was it that you wanted to talk about?" I asked as he continued pulling aimlessly at strings behind me. He let my question hang there. I wasn't sure if he would answer.

"I wanted to know if you're happy with Emmett."

I opened my mouth to answer. "A-"

"No, that's not what I wanted to say. I guess what I mean is, do you still want to marry me? No, I guess you never really did want to. What I'm trying to say is, I miss Vires."

My heart thudded and I felt my corset tighten.

He continued. "Now that I'm free, I can return there, but for some reason, I can't—and I think that reason is that I want to marry you. Still."

My heart slammed into my ribcage. Was this a proposal? I turned to face him, holding the front of my dress up with my arm. It made no sense. "Why? There's barely a kingdom left. You know what Emmett will do if I don't go through with this."

"I don't care." He stepped closer. My eyes disobeyed me and my gaze slipped to his lips for a fraction of a second. His eyebrow raised slightly. He'd noticed. As if he was reading my curiosity, he leaned in.

The door swung open, "Brother! Emmett is headed this— Oh," Minseo said, eyeing my half-untied dress. I sprang back from Young in a panic. Minseo grinned. "Wow, that really went better than I expected." My face exploded with heat.

"Minseo, she can't breathe. How do I untie this?" Young said, gesturing to my back. With three quick fluid motions, Minseo untied my entire corset. One thing was clear: Minseo had done this before.

New Release! Love by Accident by LM Spangler #Romance @EvernightPub

Blurb:

She wasn’t looking for love, but sometimes fate has a mind of its own.
Newly divorced Haven DeGrace had no intention of finding a new man, but an accident on a snowy road changed that.
Ford Mahoney had been her saving grace after her accident. After agreeing to meet for drinks upon his return from a west coast book tour, sparks flew. But, she had plans for her life and he wasn’t part of them.
Ford watched the first woman who’d ever gotten under his skin walk out of his life. A chance meeting in the vacation beach town she’d moved to brings them back together. Sparks fly again and love flares to life.

Will they act on their mutual feelings or will they walk out of each other’s lives? Again?

Excerpt:
“What am I doing here?” Haven mumbled to herself as she stirred her cocktail with the tiny little straw.
She had no idea why she’d agreed to meet Ford for dinner. Sure, they’d talked at least every other day for the past three months, but she’d just finalized her divorce. She’d only made it that long before accepting a date outside of her parents’ house. What kind of floozy did that? Her heart raced despite taking discreet deep breaths, trying to calm herself. The last thing she wanted to do was hyperventilate in the swanky French, five-star restaurant they’d chosen to meet.
She had come to enjoy their conversations while he was gone. For the first time, she realized she liked a man for his personality and the way he treated her. Not based on just looks. Asshole was one hell of a handsome man, but that’s where it stopped. Ford, on the other hand, had a beautiful heart and she appreciated that a lot more than Asshole’s good looks.
A small gasp passed her lips when a single red rose suddenly appeared in front of her. “The rose pales in comparison to you.”
She spun to face Ford, seeing him for the first time. Her eyes swept up and down his tall frame. The man was the hottest thing she’d ever seen on two legs. Sure, when she could see again, she’d looked him up after she found out who he was. But the pictures did not do the man justice. His dark hair was swept back off his face, accentuating strong cheekbones and his angular jaw. His dark eyes glittered in the dim light of the bar.
Haven rose, praying she wouldn’t tangle her feet. The five-inch heels she’d chosen to accompany her silver-sequined tank dress were treacherous to say the least. She hadn’t worn heels since her wedding. Mark had called them “come fuck me” shoes so they were strictly prohibited by asshole husband law.
His eyes did their own quick assessment. When they met hers again, his pupils dilated and his nostrils flared. Approval? God, she hoped so. Heat rushed her core—a reaction she hadn’t had in longer than she could remember. And it felt amazing.
He offered his hand and she slid hers into it. A flash of electricity sizzled between them, felt only by them. A small grin spread across his face and he nodded as if acknowledging that something was happening, something primal.
Haven’s stomach took flight on the wings of a thousand butterflies and she thought, This is what attraction feels like, what pure, unadulterated, animalistic lust feels like.
     The connection was immediate. Undeniable.
He leaned down and whispered in her ear, “Let’s skip dinner.” His breath fanned her neck and goose pimples erupted on her skin. Erotic images raced through her mind, sending a wave of liquid heat to her core, setting her aflame.
She leaned into him. “I’m not sure I’m ready for you.” The words were whispered from her heart.
“No strings. Just us, tonight. The two of us.”
She tilted her head back, her eyes meeting his. “Yes.”

About the Author:

I live close to the Maryland border in South Central Pennsylvania. My husband is wonderfully supportive of me in all aspects of my life. I have a son who is currently serving our country in the U.S. Navy. My daughter is still in school. I’m blessed to have the three of them in my life.
From a young age, I remember burying my nose in a book. A love that my mother and father passed onto my brother and myself. From my passion for reading sprang my love of writing. My mind is so often full of story ideas from the wildly paranormal to contemporary. I have notebooks lying about with story outlines and character descriptions. A song or TV show can spark an idea which circles my mind until I put the idea on paper.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy spending time with my family, burying my nose in a book, and watching a vast variety of television shows from crime dramas to 1970’s game shows. I even dabble in crafting. My favorite craft would be jewelry making. Nothing like creating wearable art.
