Book Blast: Fall Beside You by Riley Parks #sports #romance #giveaway @GoddessFish

Gideon Valsecchi had done the impossible when he busted out of the grueling poverty and pre-ordained existence his life had been on the South Side of Chicago. His free ride at college is the stepping stone to a career with a professional soccer team. And when his dream comes true it's not what he expects—sacrifice shouldn't taste this bitter, especially when the love of his life is what he's missing and can't seem to hold on to.

Elijah Tucker wants to give Gideon Valsecchi the world on a silver platter. And he has the means to do it. But Eli is learning the truth of the maxim that the way you hold onto the thing you want most is to let it go. And while his heart breaks into a thousand pieces, he doesn't come apart even when the worst happens. Because, even as cliché as it sounds...true love does find a way.

Read an Excerpt:

“I love you,” Elijah whispered, rubbing the bar of soap over Gideon’s chest.

To Gideon, those words were a hot shower, full stomach, and a hat trick combined; a phrase that he couldn’t remember ever hearing in his life. His father certainly hadn’t shared the sentiment with him, and while he couldn’t be certain whether his mother had or not, he somehow doubted she was ever able to see beyond her drug-induced hazes to recognize he existed to begin with. “I love you” was foreign and formidable. It felt like the promise of forever, which was what Gideon wanted and feared. He didn’t want to give up his fight and fall into forever, where life was comfortable and he was complacent. He didn’t want to let himself go.

“I probably do, too,” Gideon replied quietly, the statement he made when he felt too guilty to not muster a response.

“Yeah?” Elijah asked, his eyes bright with excitement.

It killed Gideon that his boyfriend was eager for any scrap of verbal affection. Endlessly, he admonished himself for not being able to lavish Elijah with more.

“Yeah,” he confirmed. Elijah never pushed or prodded. He was tirelessly patient and understanding. Though Gideon was grateful for that patience, he almost wished that Eli would put more pressure on him. He worked well under pressure; he thrived in situations where he had to perform. As much as he wanted to get there, he knew he needed several shoves in the right direction. Being moderately self-aware, Gideon knew if Elijah goaded him, it would lead to epic arguments and his signature obstinance, but then maybe there would be a breakthrough.

“I feel it,” Elijah murmured as several beads of water dripped from his eyelashes. He tucked his face into the crook of Gideon’s neck and kissed the slick skin. “That’s the important thing.” From his tone, it seemed the statement was more a reminder for himself than reassurance for Gideon.

“Do you feel it?” Eli asked. “I mean, I tell you, but do you feel that I love you? Do I show you?”

“Of course you do,” Gideon replied, taken aback by the question. “You’re so good to me, so perfect,” he promised, slotting his mouth onto Elijah’s.

Out Now – For Queen and Country, Undercover Lovers: Book Three by Ellie Barker (@sinfulpress @EllieBa3)

Released on July 13th 2018 from Sinful Press, For Queen and Country is the new LGBT erotic crime novella by Ellie Barker, and is the final novella in the Undercover Lovers trilogy.

For Queen and Country concludes the story of Nikolas, a bisexual police mole, and Sky, a transgender thief, as they work to infiltrate the local crime syndicate. Ellie Barker has created a fast paced and highly entertaining trilogy, with a diverse range of characters, various sexual encounters, and unconventional romance. Secrets and Spies, the first in the trilogy, was released in May 2018, and In Bed with the Enemy, the second book in the trilogy, was released in July 2018.

The Undercover Lovers trilogy is Amazon exclusive for a limited time before being released across all main platforms. It is available to read through Kindle Unlimited.

Blurb:

Nikolas Jinsen, police mole and mafia odd-job man, is given an ultimatum; stop seeing his girlfriend, or lose his job. When a hasty attempt to keep both goes wrong, he does the only thing he can think of: he lies. But with his new roommate a member of the elite gang that Nikolas has been tasked to look into, and his assignations with his girlfriend constantly interrupted by calls on his services as a lover, Nikolas finds that work isn't all fun and games.

For Queen and Country is a light-hearted erotic crime novella with LGBT themes.

Excerpt:

There’s something about fucking people I hate that I absolutely love.
It’s partly the pleasure. I can make them writhe, moan, plead for me to just keep doing what I’m doing. I can stop, teasing and taunting, sliding in and out slowly, flicking a clit or a nipple with my fingers or tongue. I can reduce them to a begging, panting mess just by using my body and my cock.
And it’s partly the sense of power. It’s being able to bend them naked over whatever I want, grip their hips, thrust in again and again. I love the way my hips slam into their skin, the way my fingers pinch and tug flesh, eliciting moans of pleasure even when I’m hurting them.
And it’s definitely the ability to make them orgasm. I can make them scream and groan, squirt over my fingers or pulse cum over their skin. I can draw it out, getting that build-up oh oh oh! until it snaps and they shake, jerking under me, held by my hands and cock and mouth as they can’t control their pleasure.
To see someone I hate at my command, helpless under my tongue, is really satisfying.
Case in point: Tanya Mardos. Blonde, large-breasted, round-assed, and quite frankly one of the biggest bitches I’ve ever met. She was a bitch to my girlfriend, and she’s a bitch to most of the people around her. She’s also a grade-A bitch when it comes to business, mostly because she doesn’t shy away from the illegal side of things.
She’s usually quite nice to me, but that’s because I have a cock and I know how to make her come—multiple times, if necessary. I’m a tool that she likes, especially right now, because I’ve just given her a screaming orgasm in her favourite position: up against the floor-to-ceiling windows of her penthouse, with everyone outside able to see her hot, naked body.
Not that they can, incidentally, because security dictates the glass is one-way. But it’s a fantastic illusion, and considering Tanya is an exhibitionist, she makes the most of it.
She’d just finished making the most of it, and headed back into the room to pick up a drink from the desk as I wiped my face and remembered how to breathe.

Now available for preorder! Down and Dirty #Gay #ShapeShifters @SirenBookstrand

Down and Dirty
Sanctuary 2

Genres: Alternative (M/M, Gay), Paranormal, Shape-shifter
Length: 20,955

Blurb
Bear shifter Luke Reed is still licking his wounds after a bad breakup. Ally would have made a perfect wife, but their relationship was missing the passion. She was all about the romance, but sometimes a guy just wants to get down and dirty. Now Luke’s sex dreams are getting raunchier, and his costar is always a man. The shifter’s face is hidden, but when Sam Harper shows up in Sanctuary, there’s no mistaking his body.

Sparks fly between Sam and Luke and the sex is orgasmic. But Sam doesn’t want to be Luke’s dirty secret. He wants a commitment. Luke realizes that Sam is the soulmate of his dreams, but he’s afraid of disappointing his family. Can Sam convince him to come out of the closet and take a chance on love?

Story Excerpt

Luke took a sip of his beer and watched the tall dark stranger spinning his ex around the dance floor. They made a striking couple. Ally’s low-cut top put her ample cleavage on prominent display and made it obvious she wasn’t wearing a bra. But it was her partner Luke focused on. He turned to Becca. “Who is that guy dancing with Ally?”

Becca sported a mischievous grin. “Jealous?”

Luke frowned. “Curious.”

“His name is Sam Harper and he’s visiting from Idaho, but he wasn’t living there when we were.”

Still, something about Sam Harper was familiar. He was at least 6’4” and well built. Tight jeans hugged his ass, enhancing every move as he danced, and his unbuttoned shirt revealed a sexy smattering of dark hair between solid pecs. Dark intense eyes and a heavily stubbled face projected a masculine vibe.

Luke remembered all the times Ally had run her hands through his blond hair and raved about his blue eyes. Now she was dancing with Luke’s physical opposite. And Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome had to be a good dancer too, didn’t he? Luke tore his gaze away, but kept returning to Ally and her macho partner.

The beat slowed and the lights dimmed. Ally started to get freaky. She moved her hips in a circular motion. Then she turned her back to her partner and bent her knees in a sexy invitation. He put his hands on her hips, and Ally ground her ass against his crotch.

Surprise made Luke’s jaw drop. He and Ally had two years of backstory, and she had never acted that seductive with him. Yet here she was cozying up to a stranger. Why? Did she want to make Luke jealous? She couldn’t possibly want to get back together. Their breakup had been awful. Most likely, Ally wanted to bolster her ego, or show Luke what he was missing.

If she wanted to annoy Luke because he couldn’t dance, it was working. He would rather have his fingernails pulled out than get on the dance floor. Dancing made him feel self-conscious. He imagined he looked silly and everyone was laughing at him. It had always been hard for Luke to let loose and have fun.

Evidently, this guy had no such problem. He danced as if no one was watching, and he didn’t care if they did. Ally was eating up his sexy moves. She turned to face him, and they started rolling their chests and groins against each other. Ally had a goofy smile on her face, and her moves got more seductive. She licked her lips and eye-fucked the shit out of her partner.

Luke’s eyes popped. He clenched his teeth. Ally never acted that way with him. She must have had too much to drink. She never could hold her liquor.
Suddenly Ally stood on her tiptoes, gripped her partner’s neck, and fastened her face to his.

Ash came over to the bar to grab a beer. He took a sip and chuckled. “Now that’s one hell of a lip-lock.”

That was the last straw. They might not be together anymore, but Luke still felt responsible for Ally. He couldn’t stand by and watch her get into trouble. Luke pushed his way through the crowded dance floor and clamped a hand on the stranger’s shoulder. “What the fuck is going on here?”

Adult Excerpt

Ash sat on the floor between Sam and Luke. He downed his fourth beer and looked from one man to the other. “I don’t know about you guys, but I’m horny as fuck. Anybody interested in buddy bating?”

Inside, Luke cringed. Damn Ash. He had a big libido and a bigger mouth, and when he drank, he’d say or do anything. Luke tried to deflect the conversation. “Sam must be tired. Why don’t we leave and let him get some sleep?”

“Sam’s a big boy. He can speak for himself.” Ash chuckled. “I know you’re a bator, Luke. What about you, Sam?”

“If you’re talking about self-gratification, that would be a yes, but you’ll have to enlighten me about buddy bating.”

Luke felt his face heat. He wished the floor would open up and swallow him where he sat.

“It’s pretty much what it sounds like. Masturbating with a buddy,” Ash said. “Without touching, of course.”

“Of course,” Sam muttered.

Fuck, fuck, fuck. Can this get any worse?

“Luke and I like jacking off together. Watching him stroke that big dick makes me really hot. It doesn’t mean we’re gay,” Ash added quickly.
Evidently, things could get worse, much worse. Luke tried to catch his friend’s eye and warn him to shut the fuck up, but Ash just kept talking.
“We like to get off. Nothing to be ashamed of. We just do what bros do. It’s a bonding thing. It strengthens our friendship.” Ash looked at Sam. “It’ll make you one of the boys. Clear out any bad blood between you and Luke.”
“I’m more of a loner myself, but well, whatever turns you on.”

Ash grinned. “When in doubt, whip it out.” He released his prick and started pumping.

Luke started to get up. “This is crazy.” He looked to Sam for help, but the dark shifter had pulled out his dick and was watching Ash.

Ash’s eyes went wide. “Fuck, Sam, I think your dick is bigger than Luke’s.”
Luke clenched his teeth. No wonder Ash was impressed. The little shit had the smallest prick in the room, but he made up for it with his enthusiasm. He was really getting into it, pumping into his fist and moaning. He looked over at Luke. “What are you waiting for? Need some help?”

Despite his reluctance, Luke felt himself unraveling, a slave to his hormones, like a sow in heat. Hard as steel, his dick had already made up its mind to participate. Growling, Luke unzipped and pulled it out.

* * * *

Sam couldn’t help comparing as he watched Ash stroke his cock. Ash might be big by human standards, but he didn’t measure up here. Sam switched his focus to Luke. He had a beauty, almost as big as Sam’s.

“Oh, fuck. Oh my God!”

Sam and Luke both turned to watch Ash.

“Argh…” Ash’s hand was a blur as he pumped his cock. Suddenly his face scrunched up. “Kaboom!” He shot a geyser toward the ceiling. When it finally stopped, Ash looked dazed. “That’s a wrap,” he said and fell over onto the floorboards. It didn’t take ten seconds for him to start snoring.

Luke and Sam looked at each other and busted out laughing. When the laughter ended, there was an awkward silence.

Still hard, Sam wanted to come. “I think he’s out for the count. Whatta ya say we let him sleep it off and finish this in the backroom?”

Luke hesitated for a few seconds. “Sure, let’s do it.”

A GIFT BOUND BY LOVE

While Laura was attending the annual omega celebration, a ruthless ogre attack destroyed her village and wiped out her family. Heartbroken, lonely, and adrift, she was forced to rely on the kindness of the Black Ridge wolf pack alpha for a home. And so were many others, including members of the small Newton pack, and their handsome, strong alpha, Dedric. One brief interlude was all it took for Laura to know she would choose him as her mate.

Alpha Dedric Newton couldn’t believe his good fortune. Beautiful and powerful, Laura was the omega of his dreams. Worried he had so little to offer, he insists she spend time with his small pack as they rebuild their village and homes. Laura and Dedric’s time in Newton strengthens their bond while evil works to undo all of Laura’s gifts, especially her legacy. After finding the greatest love an alpha could dream of, Dedric will do anything and everything to keep Laura safe from harm.

Read an Excerpt

Dedric stormed back to his temporary house where his beta, his parents and the head of the women’s auxiliary waited in grim silence. Mary and Wilhelm, Samson and Rayanne followed him into his office. He sat behind his desk trying to calm the rage burning inside of him before speaking to the group squeezed into the room, all of them wearing the same pissed-off expression. It wouldn’t do to start ripping heads off to find out who was responsible for this insult, but Dedric was so angry he now understood what people meant when they said their blood boiled.

“Answers,” Dedric ordered. “I want answers as to why what should have been a happy and joyous occasion could have turned into chaos and insult. If we weren’t lucky enough to have Laura’s abilities this would have turned out to be a disaster.”

“Son, I can’t think of one person in our pack who would do something like this,” his mother said. “Everyone was overjoyed when they found out you had attracted the attention of an omega,” she assured him as she poured him a cup of coffee from the machine on the sideboard.

“Well somebody did,” Wilhelm groused. “It was plain to see the leg of the table had been cut. It wasn’t a failure due to the weight of the cake and it wasn’t because the table was old, because they’re new. Someone is responsible.” Wilhelm stared out the window. “I think you need to say something to the pack.”

“I will in the morning,” Dedric agreed.

“Oh, I think it’s going to have to be a bit sooner than that,” Samson said as he looked out the window and into the yard in front of the house.

Dedric got up, rounded his desk and looked through the window to find what looked like the whole pack standing in front of his house. Looks like I wasn’t the only one worried about how this affected Laura. “Right. I’ll go speak with them.”

Catherine Taylor is no stranger to life’s school of hard knocks. At the tender age of 18, she left her dysfunctional family behind and struck out on her own, finally free to embrace her passion for creating art. After years of hard work, she has achieved some degree of acclaim. When she is offered the opportunity to work in the small middle eastern country of Bashir to create the defining mural for the new children's critical care ward, Catherine embraces the chance to meld her love of children and her love of art. What she doesn’t think she is ready for is the blatant and instant passion she feels the moment she meets the successful country’s crown prince, Malik.

Malik al-Hakim has been raised with the sole purpose of someday becoming the king of his beloved country of Bashir. Years of careful preparation by his loving family has him ready to take the yoke from his father one day, but nothing could prepare him for the instant lust he feels the moment he sees Catherine. Never one to let an opportunity slip by, Malik pursues Catherine convincing her to explore their desire. But when political intrigue places Catherine in danger, Malik soon realizes lust has evolved to love and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep the woman of his dreams safely by his side, no matter how hard she tries to fight their fate.
Read an Excerpt:

“Are you cold?” He frowned.

The night air was warm to him, but that didn’t mean it was to her.

“No.” But her body shook again.

If she wasn’t cold, what was making her shiver? Her breath grew shallow and her eyes larger. His gaze swept over her body. Her nipples were pressing against the fabric of her robe in hard little peaks. She was aroused. She was shivering from excitement, not cold. He hid a smile.

“I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable tonight.” He was taking a shot in the dark, but his mother had chastised him for flirting with Catherine, possibly causing her to retire early.

Catherine shrugged and her robe slipped, giving him a peek at her creamy skin. His groin tightened as he found himself without the right words. A first for him. He usually knew exactly what to say to a woman.

“You’re different from other women.” He stepped closer to her.

“In what way?” Her back stiffened. Damn, she misunderstood him. “Well?” she asked, tilting her head to the side while staring at him.

He barely resisted the urge to plant kisses along her exposed neck. His forefathers had the right idea when one of them saw a woman he wanted—capture her, carry her off to his desert tent, and make her his. He drew in a deep breath. He needed to soothe over the nerves he’d bristled with his words, and then he’d go about wooing her.

Out Now – In Bed with the Enemy, Undercover Lovers: Book Two by Ellie Barker (@sinfulpress @EllieBa3)

Released on June 15th 2018 from Sinful Press, In Bed with the Enemy is the new LGBT erotic crime novella by Ellie Barker, and is the second novella in the Undercover Lovers trilogy.

In Bed with the Enemy continues the story of Nikolas, a bisexual police mole, and Sky, a transgender thief, as they work to infiltrate the local crime syndicate. Ellie Barker has created a fast paced and highly entertaining trilogy, with a diverse range of characters, various sexual encounters, and unconventional romance. Secrets and Spies, the first in the trilogy, was released in May 2018, and For Queen and Country, the remaining book in the trilogy, is due for release on July 13th 2018.

In Bed with the Enemy is Amazon exclusive for a limited time before being released across all main platforms.

Excerpt:

I pulled out my phone.
Bear answered within two rings. “Nikolas! This is a pleasant surprise.”
“I changed my mind about that nightcap, if the offer’s still open,” I told him.
Why the change of heart?” He sounded a bit surprised.
“I can’t stop thinking about you.” And actually, it was true. I wanted to know what he was like in bed. How far down that beard went. What was under that suit. What he looked like when he came.
I thought you didn’t do one-offs?”
“Sky wants to hear all about it afterwards.”
I heard the bellow of laughter down the phone, and then he came back on the line, still chuckling. “Well, I can’t disappoint her, can I. When?”
“What’s wrong with now?”
Forty-five minutes later, I was getting out of a taxi at the foot of a tower block. Ten minutes had been picking up a bottle of wine that I liked, wondering if he’d like it, checking with Sky—who told me she didn’t have a fucking clue and I’d just got her killed, which meant she was playing something with Benny—and going back to my original choice. And now I was here, looking up at the lit windows above me and thinking about Tanya’s exhibitionism.
I’d wondered about getting a hotel room, but Bear had invited me over and I’d accepted. It meant if there was a trap I was walking into it, but then a hotel room had a veneer of anonymity that I didn’t necessarily like. Sky knew where I was going, and had offered to come and rescue me if needed—and that meant she could potentially bring both the Queen and Tanya’s resources down on someone’s head. Tanya Mardos didn’t care about much in the world, but I figured she’d probably have something to say if her current sex toy wasn’t available on demand.
And so I headed for the main door and pushed the button for the flat intercom.
Yes?” Bear’s voice said almost immediately.
“Nikolas.”
Come on up.”

Love Reawakened (The Aphrodite Chronicles Book 2) by LM Spangler #pnr #romance @EvernightPub

Love Reawakened-small

Blurb:

Drea Tate had loved and lost … and gained.

Having been told her lover died and her life was in danger, Drea left her home in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania to start anew in Cicada Lake.

Micah Bridges had been lured to Cicada Lake by the hefty bounty for catching a wealthy bail jumper.

Imagine their surprise when they meet in the small town’s only bar. And imagine Micah’s surprise when Drea drops a photo of a young boy who looks just like him.

Lies had torn them apart. Can they reawaken the love they once shared? And is there enough love to go around?

Excerpt:

He stood and pulled her flush against his body. His mouth captured her in a brutal, soul-searing kiss before he lifted his head. “I love you.”
She rubbed the fingertips of her index and middle finger over her lower lip. “I love you, too.”
He grinned as the voices neared. “Good.”
The air around him began to swirl, becoming tornadic. The fire blew out and hot ashes rose, circling around him. Through the glowing haze, he saw her body blur then disappear into the whirlwind. She had become one with the gale.
Her alluring vanilla aroma—so enrapturing—blew away, making it impossible to follow her trail.
Knowing she was safe, he turned toward the brush as his uncle and cousin stepped into the small clearing.
His uncle lifted his nose and inhaled deeply. “So, your bitch eludes us again. No matter.”
His cousin threw his head back and laughed. “You won’t be alive long enough to worry about her anymore.”
“What do you mean?” the alpha-elect asked. Sounds of rustling underbrush signaled the approach of more people. His head turned from side to side. “What’s going on?”
His uncle smirked. “I should inform you that your father has met…” He paused for a moment. “An untimely demise.”
Anger rushed through the alpha-elect like a fireball. “He what?”
The rustling grew louder until four wolves stepped into the clearing.
“What the fuck is going on?”
The wolves surrounded the alpha-elect, circling menacingly.
“He’s dead. And soon you will be, too,” his cousin answered.
His uncle pointed and then all hell broke loose.
The wolves lunged. Claws slashed. Teeth bit. The alpha-elect was attacked on all sides. Pain tore through him as blood had begun to flow from multiple wounds.
Defenseless. It had happened so fast. He couldn’t fight back. He had his strength, but he was no match for four fully matured wolves. He fell to the ground and covered his head as the sound of growls and chomping jaws rent the air.
His life force started to waver. He’d lost too much blood.
He was going to die.
But his last thoughts weren’t of the unbearable, burning pain or betrayal.
They were of her.

Blurb:
An intergalactic game of hide and seek, with a sexy human female as the prize.

Zoe is five feet, six inches of green-eyed, red-haired militant activist. A deeply ingrained need to help those who can’t help themselves -- human and otherwise -- motivates her every move. She snuck into the Mailon research facility to investigate rumors of experiments being conducted on a rare and highly intelligent species of sentient mammals. Now she finds herself in need of help to rescue one very sick little battle rat.

Greyson is six and a half feet of ruggedly muscular cyborg with a penchant for violence. He loves to fight, and he fights to win. What he hates is being sent to the Mailon research facility on a petty errand. When he catches a glimpse of a former lover flitting around the facility like an impossibly sexy cat burglar, he is intrigued. What is the saucy little wench up to, and why is she stalking him through the corridors of the alien laboratory?

EXCERPT
“So what’s the plan?” Greyson swiveled the command seat to look at his passenger. Passengers, actually. Since bringing the bedraggled little bundle of fur aboard, he’d come to realize that the battle rat was definitely a sentient being, and understood most, if not all of what was being discussed.
She might not look like much, and he certainly didn’t expect the battle rat to be an asset in an actual battle but she was starting to grow on him. Who would have believed he had a compassionate side? Certainly none of his platoon mates in the outer rim battalion!
Zoe let out a long sigh. “I hadn’t actually got past the part where I used your trip to the research facility to facilitate getting her out of there. I’d like to take her back to her home, to her own kind but I have no idea where that is.”
Greyson titled his head to study her. “So how did you find out she was in the facility?”
“Mailon carelessness. They did a news release on some new tech development and she showed up in the background of one of the info shots. One of my contacts sent me a still frame of it, and the location of the facility. They knew I’d find a way to get her out of there.”
“So why didn’t you just go for the usual media route to get her freed?”
Zoe shook her head. “Wouldn’t work. The Mailons have a lot of clout with the big stations and they’d be leery of airing anything that might cut off the gravy train. These little critters might be cute, but they don’t have any hard currency to barter with.”
Greyson reached down to scoop up the battle rat. The little creature cooed at him. She sounded happy, although for all he knew maybe that sound was her battle cry. She batted her eyelids at him, and he chuckled. If he didn’t know better, he’d think she was playing coy.
He looked over at Zoe. “You should give her a name. We can’t keep calling her ‘the thing.’”
Zoe shrugged, her attention on the star chart dancing in the air in front of her. “I would imagine she has a name. We just have no idea of what it is.”
“Well, she needs a name we can pronounce.”
Zoe let go of the star chart and it blinked out of existence. She glided over to his side with a graceful movement that set his libido in gear. It took more than a little self-control to quash the urge to take her in his arms and ravish her.
Again.
They’d done little else in the time they’d been cooped up together on his shuttle. In his defense there wasn’t a lot else to do as the ship hurtled through space on auto-pilot. It wasn’t outfitted for entertaining. As a bonus, Zoe seemed to derive as much, or more, satisfaction from their erotic activities as he did.
She cocked her head and studied the creature. “How about Joan? As in Joan of Arc from the stories from Old Earth? I don’t recall the whole story but she was a female warrior of some sort. It seems suitable for a battle rat.”
Greyson still had his doubts about the thing’s ability to defend itself, let alone wage battle but he saw no reason to bring that up. He reached out to ruffle her fur. “Joan it is. What do you think of your new name?”
As if she understood the conversation, the newly named Joan chortled happily and bounced up his arm to drape herself across the back of the command chair.
“I think she’s adopted you.” Zoe grinned at him.
“You might try explaining to her that you were the one who rescued her.” No way was he going to admit that he enjoyed the little fur ball’s company.
“Nope. Too late. She’s bonding with you. Maybe we won’t have to worry about where her home is.”
“Well right now we’re on course to the supply station in the Gliese system. Once we get there we need to figure out where we’re going next. “
“Where were you heading before I interrupted your plans?”
“Terras Five, but I’m not sure you want to go there with me.”
Zoe wrinkled her nose.
Gods. Even that small gesture went straight to his groin.
“Have to say you have a point there. Maybe you could drop me off on one of the human space stations? There must be one in the vicinity.”
“There is, but it’s a military facility. I’m not sure you’d pass their security clearances. I seem to recall you have a bit of a checkered history.”
She waved her hand dismissively. “I have a couple of alternate sets of I.D. I’m sure I’ll be fine.”
He arched his brow. “There’s also the other problem with that idea. What if I don’t think it’s a good idea to leave you on a base crowded with testosterone-driven males?”
She laughed. “Are you serious? You think they’d be worse than you? We barely keep our clothes on long enough to eat.”
“On the contrary, I think they’d be exactly like me -- which is why I object.” He leaned back in his chair and grinned up at her. “Although they wouldn’t be as proficient at the sensual arts of course. I’m sure you’d be disappointed.”
