In a world where reproduction is the number one priority, a gay wolf shifter could never be an alpha. So Logan hides his secret from the pack and resigns himself to a life without love.
Then one night, he finds his true mate and he’s forced to make a choice.
A full moon rose above the jack pines and a howl sounded in the distance. In a few minutes, the long plaintive cry changed into the high-pitched yelping of a coyote. The hairs on the back of Logan’s neck stood up and a shiver iced down his spine. Consumed by curiosity, he raced to the gate, stopping at an oversized keypad where he entered the code with his snout.
Logan passed through the gate and left the safety of Maccon pack territory. Ears erect, he listened, and before long, he heard the haunting cry again. Logan knew he had to follow the creature’s unique siren call.
As Logan got closer, a new scent spurred him on. He lifted his snout and tried to decipher the delicious smell. Not human, not quite wolf, but definitely intriguing. The animal’s scent, while mixed with traces of fear and pain, also triggered arousal. Logan felt giddy with anticipation. He thought he might be heading into an ambush, now this was looking like a rescue mission. Catching the precise direction on the wind, Logan’s trot turned to a gallop. The moon and stars provided light but Logan’s senses would take him where he needed to go.
Logan’s paws pounded the earth as if he were an Olympic runner. The scent got stronger as Logan got closer to the source. It was like nothing else he’d ever smelled before. Intoxicating like sex, manliness, and warm cinnamon cookies, but way better than anything or anyone he’d ever eaten or fucked.
