On February 27th, THE LAYOVER was released as part of Evernight’s Uniform Anthology – Manlove Edition. Since then, the stars of the story have been dealing with their new notoriety. As you can imagine, both men have full schedules but they agreed to come by today for a short interview.

So let’s give a big welcome to Jamey Conley, owner of The Layover café.

Jamey: Good morning! I came straight from the café, and I brought breakfast. Hope everyone likes apple turnovers. Paul’s bringing in the coffee.

Me: Oh my God! These smell heavenly. And here comes our airline pilot. Welcome Captain! Paul set the coffee down, and everyone just dig in.

Me: Paul, I know the readers are dying to hear about the life of an airline pilot. You get to see the world! That has to be a dream job.

Paul: Well, thanks for the opportunity to set the record straight. I get to see San Francisco and Philadelphia, and not a lot of them outside of the airports. Once I land the plane, I only have about 20 to 30 hours to eat and sleep. That doesn’t leave much time for sightseeing. Anyone who thinks pilots are overpaid playboys are way off the mark.

Me: I had no idea. Why don’t you tell us why you became a pilot?

Paul: I just have a passion for flying. The view from a thousand feet is magical. It sure beats a desk job. And I got to meet Jamey.

Me: Oh, how romantic! Jamey, why don't you tell everyone how you two met.

Jamey: One day, Paul walked into the café in his uniform and I went gaga. Well, look at him. Can you blame me? But when it comes to a relationship, it’s not the uniform. It’s the man under the uniform. And I have to say, Paul looks even better under it.

Paul:  Speaking of which, Jamey has this little barista apron that says—

Jamey: Paul! No!

Paul: doubles over laughing

It’s contagious and we all crack up.

Me:  Thanks so much, guys. For the goodies and the laugh. Come back and visit any time.
