Fighting Fangs by Lisa Oliver #AuthorInterview #MMromance #Giveaway

An interview with Lisa Oliver, author of Fighting Fangs.

When did you first start writing?

I started writing non-fiction seventeen years ago, but I have been writing fiction since November 2013.  I haven't written anything non-fiction since then.

How did you choose the genre you write in?

I adore reading MM shifter books so when I decided to jump in and have a go at writing one for myself, it was a natural genre to chose.  I purposefully wrote books that I wanted to read, hoping that my readers would feel the same way.

Where do you get your ideas?

To be perfectly honest I have no idea.  I put a lot of work into choosing the characters and pairing them up, but the storylines seem to flow from how I think my men will react in any given situation, and what they have to do, to achieve their HEA.  The Bound and Bonded series came about because I could see the benefits of being a wolf shifter in the BDSM lifestyle, where the natural tendencies to be dominant or submissive are in built, but as my books are also love stories, I had to find a way for the dominants in my books to appreciate the strength of submission and the submissive.

Do you ever experience writer’s block?

Unfortunately yes, just like most writers I imagine. Usually if I find I can't go on with a story it is because it has either gone off tangent and I can't find a way out of it, or my head is not in the right space.  The delete key takes care of the first problem and a good long walk on the beach with my dog takes care of the second.

Do you work with an outline, or just write?

I just write.  Before I start a story I have my two main characters picked, and I know I want them to have an HEA.  After that I just start writing and the story seems to flow from how my characters react in different situations.

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult?

I started reading at aged four and by the time I was six I was reading adult books. Over the years I have read literally thousands of books and it would be impossible for me to say that any one of them influenced me more than others.  My favorites growing up were "Wind in the Willows," and "Gone With The Wind," but in the past two years all I have read are MM books and I have a list of at least twenty authors who are on my auto-buy list.
What do you do when you are not writing?

Oh, was I supposed to stop at some stage?  Sorry, uhm...I read?  Actually though I do have a life.  I have grown children, and grandchildren, I am getting back into my art again and I have a love for photography and a new camera so I have plenty to keep me busy when I have done with the word count for the day.

How did you come up with the title?

The title for Fighting Fangs was relatively easy.  I knew I was going to pair Ace with a non-shifter and yet I needed a  paranormal  with incredible strength.  Hence the vampire idea.  Ace was always going to fight his mating with a vampire, hence Fighting Fangs. Most of my book titles come from some aspect of at least one of the main characters.

What project are you working on now?

I want to have book 6 of the Cloverleah Pack series finished by the end of March (Fae for All). I am also working on Book 2 of
Stockton Wolves series, which I am hoping will be out by the end of April.  The next book in the Bound and Bonded series will be out by June.

Author Bio

Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams.  Unable to resist the lure of her stories, Lisa decided to switch to fiction books, and now stories about her men clamor to get out from under her fingertips.

When Lisa is not writing, she is usually reading with a cup of tea always at hand. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate.  Lisa will do anything for chocolate.

Ace is on a mission.  On the run from his old pack, the enforcer is determined that cat shifter Teric must die.  In his head it's the only way he can regain his place in the Washington pack and the Bound and Bonded club. In an effort to meet his needs for Domination in the human world, Ace visits Whips, a predominantly human BDSM club and gets the shock of his life.

Devin is a five hundred year old vampire who has been searching for his one and only for the longest time. Working as a house sub at Whips was fine until one Master over steps his boundaries and Devin is left with time on his hands.  Deciding on a whim to track down the delicious wolf shifter he had smelled at the club, Devin soon tracks down Ace...and then promptly wishes he hadn't. Ace is a wolfist and refuses to accept Devin as his mate.

Misunderstandings are just one hurdle these two need to overcome, if they are ever to have their HEA.  The enforcers from the Washington Pack are still looking for Ace, and when they find him it might prove the end for both Devin and Ace.

Warnings; this is a gay erotic romance about a wolf shifter and a vampire.  The book includes graphic sex scenes between men, BDSM elements and coarse language.

“This is not a scene. Not this time. This is us, together. Mate. Amatus. No rules. No restrictions. Just two men who will be together for a lifetime.”

Devin’s eyes flashed a brilliant red, the sight almost shocking Ace with its intensity and then it was gone just as quickly.

“I want that,” Devin said softly, as his hands came up from where they had been resting on the bed and gripped Ace’s biceps. “I want that a lot,” his voice finishing on a growl that set Ace’s wolf on edge as though not sure whether to challenge or submit. But that growl left Ace in no doubt that the man underneath him was as much a predator as he was.
