Hot Summer Romance Giveaway Hop: Let's Talk About Romance

I'm excited to be part of the Hot Summer Romance Giveaway Hop sponsored by the Insatiable Reads Book Tour.
There are 180 authors participating and grand prizes like an ereader and gift cards! You can find the other participants here:

I'm also having my own giveaway. More about that below. And now...

Let's Talk About Romance

Because this blog hop is all about romance, a subject near and dear to my heart, because I write erotic romance – the emphasis is on romance for a reason. My stories may have explicit sex scenes but at heart, they're love stories, with all the emotion and conflict that goes along with a love story.

When I was a kid the closest I came to romance were my mother’s True Story and True Confession magazines and I was forced to read them under the covers with a flashlight. We thought they were pretty risqué at the time with their romantic dramas that ran the gamut of adultery, unwed pregnancy, disease and even rape. But those tales of sex and sin pale in comparison to today’s romance novels.

One thing remains the same; the focus is on the relationship between the characters. We all want to see the romance develop, the conflicts resolved and the heroes have an emotionally satisfying happily ever after.

In an erotic romance the reader gets the whole package, a love story and a look inside the bedroom. I love writing the sex scenes as much as reading them. The biggest challenge is to keep them unique so the story doesn’t start to sound like a how-to book. I try to focus on the characters and their personalities. Their emotional response and sexual chemistry add a whole new dimension to each scene.

We’ve come a long way. I think it’s great that the barriers have come down and writers can give the readers what they want. Of course some people still ask me “have you written anything that I can read?’ And if my mother were still here, I’m sure I’d still be hiding my books under the mattress.
Leave a comment and your email address for a chance to win an ebook from my backlist. You can see my books and read excerpts at Bookstrand:

Symbiotic Mates 5: Kade and the Captives

[Ménage and More ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Ménage a Trois Romance, M/M/M, vampires, werewolves, love triangle, voyeurism, public exhibition, HEA]

Noah Davis and Jesse Ford have been together for years, and Noah is thinking monogamy spells monotony. His dreams of hot werewolf sex have him longing for the real thing. When Noah finds a map of Arcadia on the internet, he sets out to find the Wolf Den. The pack alpha has plans for the human male drinking at the bar and he orders Kade Barker, his enforcer, to seduce Noah. The blue-eyed blond is easy on the eyes and Kade agrees, but sparks fly and the shifter finds himself wondering if he's the one who's been seduced.

Noah has a night of wild sex he'll never forget, but he gets more than he bargained for when he realizes his lycan lover locked him up and threw away the key. Meanwhile, a worried Jesse follows him to Arcadia City. Now both humans are prisoners—and pawns in the war between shifters and vampires. When the alpha finally reveals his plans for the human men, Kade starts having second thoughts, and he isn't sure he'll be able to carry them out.

Happy Reading!

My grandma would buy stuff on the bestseller list and be scandalized, so I'd grab 'em when no one was looking!

I wanted to stop in say hello earlier but I lost my electricity for a while, and with it the internet. Our heat wave must be overloading the circuits at PECO.
Thanks for reading everybody, and stay cool! Gale

My first reading love was sci-fi/fantasy. But in my 20's as a single mom on welfare the only new to me books I could get to feed the reading habit were my mom's Harlequin Romance books. Then in my 30's I had money to spend again. Imagine my surprise when I discovered paranormal romance in the book store. Walked in and saw a dragon on a cover in the romance section(which in my Waldenbooks back then was right by the registers). Haven't looked back since and buy several books each month now, probably more than I should. :)
