BlogTour: The Oracle of Delphi by Diantha Jones

I’m excited to be part of the blog tour for the Oracle of Delphi series. Author Diantha Jones is here, and she's talking about what it means to be self-published. And don't forget to enter the giveaways (see below) and follow the tour to learn more about Diantha and her fictional world:

Indie: What it really means to be Self-Published

“Indie” is quite the fancy word, don't you think? But to me, it's so much more than a word and it really can't even be defined. But if I had to give it a definition it would be, “he/she who does everything.”

From conception to publication, an Indie author controls every aspect of their book's creation. But sometimes I feel that self-published authors who are just getting into the game don't actually realize the truth of that. The result is a half-baked effort to get a book into readers' hands, usually before it's ready.

Researching the process is vital to an Indie and it's something I should have done before publishing my first book. Lesson learned, but I feel it's my duty to share my knowledge with others. There's editing, formatting for digital and print, book covers (SO important!) and of course, marketing. All things Indie are responsible for making happen.

Before I got into the Indie game, I'd never heard of a thing such as a virtual blog tour. Come to find out, it's the hottest thing to do and even traditionally published authors are in on it. Having a social media presence is crucial and an author without a Twitter account is a ghost. Nobody can see you. Beta readers are a good idea and outlines are an even better one. A good editor is worth every penny spent and a bad book cover will break you. This is all stuff I learned along the way, but would have known before if I'd done my research.
And I know, it's a lot to deal with, but it's what we have to do as Indies. Every triumph is yours, but so is every mistake–Bad editing, horrible book covers, etc. So you want the fancy title? Be prepared to be the definition: Indies do EVERYTHING. But I'd say, it's definitely worth it.

Prophecy of Solstice's Ends (Oracle of Delphi #3)
Release Date: July 15, 2013

Summer Solstice is here. Let the games begin.

Nothing but lies (some of them her own) and deceit have brought Chloe to Olympus for the Solstice Olympic Games. As the Oracle and the special guest of the King of Myth, Chloe becomes immersed in a life of unfathomable luxury, taunting history, and overwhelming excitement. Though scheming and untrustworthy, the gods remain on their best behavior as the tension and anticipation builds around the outcome of the Quest of the Twelve Labors, the deadliest competition of the Games. All seems well on the celestial front...until athletes start turning up dead and a philosopher missing for months returns with a most terrifying story...

 But that’s not all.

As Strafford confronts his troubled past and more is learned about the Great Unknown Prophecy, Chloe grows close to another, setting off a chain of events that will bring her face-to-face with a truth that will rock both of her worlds to their core.

And it’ll all happen before Solstice’s end...
